I have been to thus place before but my first experience here was during Nordic fest in 2019. The town of Decorah explodes to 3 or 4 times larger due to the crowd. This means a boon to the local economy but also means everywhere you want to try and escape to is also packed with people. I was never alone, not one minute during my adventure. Parking alone was a chore. Despite this memory I returned just the other day. Parking was free of vehicles. No crowd. Able to freely walk at the park. Only one set back was the main road leading up the hill was closed. I had to park and walk up a near 45 degree incline. I have no problem with that but I can bet many of the local older folks do. I did see a few people walking their dogs there too. Overall it's a great park to go exploring. Nice views from top of surrounding area. In my opinion go there during the week. Better opportunity to...

You have to walk quite a ways from the Dunnings Springs to get to the entrance. It’s not a bad walk, but if you’re with a little kid, it feels like you’re just walking along the road and they might complain a bit before you get there … It would be nice if they fixed up the road enough to get a little closer. And then once you get there, you’re hoping it’s going to be a little bit of exploring. The cave is really cool but like other people mentioned rocks have fallen down so you can’t go into it very far. There are longer trails through the woods but my son was tired of walking by then. I think if I parked on the end of the road it would have been a shorter walk. I read there’s another parking spot. There was no ice on the walls of the cave while we were there in the fall. I hear it’s icy in the spring and...

Loved it. I've been handicapped for two years and haven't really done anything physically challenging.

In one hospital visit, I contracted/suffered drop foot, blood clots in lungs, micro-strokes, coma 20 days, kidney failure (although they work again and no more dialysis!), sepsis poisoning (gone now) and a triple bypass.

Such a coool, short, and easy stop! In the same parking area as Dunnings Springs. You walk about .5 miles down a paved road, closed due to erosion/road slippage. Must stay on the road, the sides are private property. There was some construction at the entrance in late July 22 but you could still access it easily. You can't walk in too far due to a collapse at the entrance of the cave, but it was still really cool to see and feel how cold it is at the entrance!

It was kind of cool to think about the history of this place. There was no ice when we went in and you can’t go in very far. However, there was a cool light beam coming down and it did get pretty cold on the inside. It’s a quick walk to the cave and the city it’s in seems pretty cool. I wish they would clear out the caved in part so we could see more. I would like to come back around March when there’s ice!
