Sewailo Golf Club — Attraction in Tucson

First off, I will say that if I was rating this just on the course and the staff I would give it five stars. For the price, it is a very nice course. The staff at the bag drop and the starter were awesome and very friendly and helpful. Course was in very nice shape considering the weather. The rest was kind of a mixed bag. For such a nice course, the snack bar was on par with a city golf course and was not open at 8am during prime season (2/23). I have nothing against a city golf course snack bar, but it seemed incongruous with this quality of golf course. If you are planning on drinking any beer or other alcohol during an early tee time, better sneak your own on the course. I only saw the beer cart once during the 18 holes and that was about halfway through our round. With that I still would have given four stars but the GPS on the golf carts was maddening. They are very nice golf carts with nice seats, and a cooler pre-filled with some ice. Every time you look up to see how far you are from the pin on the GPS display, there is another ad on the screen. You are constantly pushing the "back to golf" button on the screen which never works the first couple of times. Drove us and the two we were paired with crazy. Please fix that GPS display! I rated this 3 stars simply because the tee time policy is terrible. The golf course right now is in unbelievably great condition! Greens are smooth, fairways have no bald spots, tees are beautiful! Prior to teeing off we were told by the starter 3 times that “ the most important thing to remember is pace of play “. We finished the front 9 in one hour 45 minutes. We were being pushed by the group behind us so much that it felt like we were in a track meet. When we arrived at the 10th tee we were told we finished too quick and we would now have to wait for 2 additional groups that had tee times for the back 9!!! By the way we were the first group off the front 9 at 6:30. Very poor customer service! The back 9 tee times should have stopped at 8:00. Especially since the starter pushed us on “...

Course is in great shape and very challenging. Played there with my club and a shotgun start. The reason for the three star rating is that there was not enough spots on the practice range so had to wait to warm up. There was enough room to add about 10 more so that was not the problem. Also no club cleaning area at the range. The GPS in the carts was not set up correctly GPS said hole cut in middle when it was in the back. Not a problem at other courses which have different color flags or a numbering system but must rely on the GPS at this course.
