Sulphur Creek Nature Center — Attraction in Hayward

This facility saves injured wildlife. They do their best to treat and release injured wild animals. An amazing group of people work and volunteer at this much needed facility. Sadly, the animals that are caged here are unable to survive back into the wild. Please respect these poor creatures that just want to fly and join their flock of feathery friends but are unable to do so. Speak softly and move slowly around these beautiful caged animals. If you do they will listen and maybe won't be so afraid and will keep them calm. Think how you would feel caged up all day, everyday. We need to respect their space, afterall it is their home. Please pass this along to your children.

This place is a treasure. Imagine being able to see wild local animals and birds in spacious outdoor enclosures. From owls to bobcats and mountain lion, wild turkeys to rabbits. Inside the building are wild fishes, reptiles, and amphibians. There are intimate spaces for the little ones to relax, work puzzles, have a puppet show with hand puppets.The have a variety of nature classes and events, and you can arrange for birthday parties with animal visitor to see and pet. Unfortunately some of those posting are ignorant of the fact that It is wildlife that was injured and could not be returned to the wild. Those are the ones that have a home at sulfur Creek. In those cages are the eagles that were shot by a poacher with bird shot out of the sky and left for dead. Same with coyotes and every other animal that you see. They are all native california wildlife brought in by a resident or law enforcement because of some kind of injury. Just FYI.
