Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters — Attraction in Cooperton

I rather enjoyed my 3 day trip at the Wichita Mountains. We set camp up at Doris campground with little to no complications, bugs weren't all that bad. Now the racoons and squirrels raveged our picnic table destroying all the bread we had lol. Osage lake is a great area to tour/backpack around, being that there's not as much traffic in the area. Snakes on the other hand should be looked for at all times near bushes and rocks; we had a brief run in with a diamond back. It wasn't to much of a hassle considering the heat had the snake at bay. There's also alot of bison and longhorn cattle free ranging the park. And the moon lit mountain sides are a beautiful sight to see as it changes the appearance of the scape. Lawtonka Lake is a great boating and swimming area as well! Enjoy your visit,...

Went to the top of Scott Mtn...beautiful views. The ride up might be a little white knuckled...but it's not bad. Went to the Dam...parking is a bit limited, but those who were fishing looked to be having a good...
