I had driven by this winery last summer with family and convinced my husband THIS is where we needed to go when he came with me for our annual March Arizona trip! We anxiously left my son's home this morning to make the trip! We usually go to Sonoita Wine Country south of Tucson. We have been to wineries un Greece, Sicily, CA and more. Very disappointing to find a tour and tasting here is $34 - so, no need for a tour. We happily opted for $11 tastings each even though we waited 10 minutes to even be acknowledged - as the only people standing there. I wish I had the name of the older man who - not sure what verb to use - 'attempted' to give us a tasting? He was so busy fluttering around, looking at messed up tickets, checking out a woman who had a small purchase, never ONCE saying "sorry, crazy day", or at least SOME cliche excuse, rudely pouring our wine when he did over leftover wine - he did at times give us ok information on what we were tasting. We let him know we were staying in Cottonwood over night and asked what there was to do there, trying to have something of a conversation (he could Not have been less interested) - his response, "Watch paint dry". Wow....I replied we had heard there are restaurants, wine tasting rooms, shops. He said, yeah, in the old part of town. Then he flitted off to pay attention to the only 2 other people who showed up while we were there for a tasting, quickly dropping us, asking them if they were "members". Left us standing. We had 9 of 10 tastings. I laid $24 on the counter. We were DONE. He glanced our way and said, "Just the tasting today?" I said yes, and we would NEVER be back. We had driven 2 hours for the WORST customer service EVER from a winery. I complained to the hostess. She was nice, but had no clue how to respond to a complaint. Small, pretty blond woman. We left after I went back one more time to tell our 'host' he had done a Terrible job. I WISH I had added "If you dislike your job so much, and it is obvious you do, you should quit - or get fired." We found the Tasting Rooms in Cottonwood to be warm, welcoming and very friendly - just like ALL we have visited over our travels with the exception of Page Springs Cellars. Just enjoy the great hospitality of Cottonwood - avoid the rudeness of Page Springs. (PS - First review I have EVER taken time to write. That is how...
Read moreAbsolutely do NOT waste your time or money here. Horrible customer service and even worse, they don’t seem to care that they do. Not surprised at all of the other 1 star reviews on here. I have been in the service industry and am a nurse and could never imagine treating a customer the way we were treated here.
I booked hula hooping with Gayle for my bachelorette party months in advance, talking to them via email that we were tubing the river in the morning and would come over after so asked for an afternoon appointment. They acted like it was no problem, every calendar itinerary they sent me showed 3-5pm blocked off. I prepaid everything, her tip as well!
We got off the river a little late and called Page Springs to tell them we had a hula hoop reservation but were running late and we were on the way. The hostess acted like she didn’t care or understand why we were calling and just said “okay”. So we went all the way over to then have one of the rudest interactions with a company I’ve ever experienced. Gayle was so rude to us. She told me I must have not read the fine print and should have been there at 2:45. Gayle wouldn’t let us use any of the hula hoops to enjoy now that we were there and didn’t even hesitate to try to help with any sort of refund after I had paid $200(!!) for this. The way she spoke to me was as if I was so beneath her. She never even tried to accommodate us in some way (maybe see if they could get a table for us or anything) after knowing we thought the reservation was from 3-5 and had called to say we were late. She condescendingly told us we should go somewhere else because “we couldn’t have outside food” looking at our snack bag we had brought from the car. Save your money and time and go to the next door winery who were AMAZING - Oak Creek Cellars!! They were SO friendly, accommodating, have amazing award winning wine and live music.
I hate writing bad reviews but honestly couldn’t get over the way we were treated there by the hostesses and Gayle and want to save anyone else from having an experience like mine and what seems like a lot of other people who took time to write a...
Read moreOur being somewhat of wine connoisseurs and having relocated from a State that offers so many vineyards and easy to go wine tasting often, with knowledge of New York, California and Oregon vineyards (some Americas best wines) – we have been surprised… no, really super amazed that the Southwest, especially Arizona has so many worthy up-and-coming wineries, making day outings, day trips, and weekend trips incredibly enjoyable doing picnics (when the weather is nice), wine tastings, tours or just relaxing. As you well know if you’re a wine lover, wine is very subjective and varies from one’s own palate and preference. Due to diverse variances in each experience, or trying to compare one winery, vineyard, grape or wine to another, taste, taste, taste - I have developed a method in scoring that will give both the occasional novice wine taster or the most sophisticated connoisseur a bearing on each establishment by visited, based on our single, or sometimes multiple visits to each location. And, I must say these wines are scrumptious in many ways. So, without further ado, my guidelines are: 1) beauty of location and its scenery [ Scored:4.5 ] ; 2) the establishment’s appearance and ambience [ Scored:4.5 ]; 3) the owner/operators’ attention to their customers and hospitality [ Scored:4.5 ]; 4) activities, events and/or meals/munchies/entertainment [ Scored:4.5 ]; 5) wine selection, quality, taste and varieties [ Scored:4.0 ]; and 6) heavily weighted on our taste [ Scored:4.5 ]; as well as 7) value, consistency and price of the product [ Scored:4.0 ]. None of the aforementioned are in any specific order of value. The scale being 1 the worst, 5 the best and recommended and our overall assessment by score and/or pro/cons are: incredible variety of all the aforementioned, as well as both customer service, quality of product, a great learning experience and fabulous offering of insight to the Arizona wine industry and wine styles and wines as well as Oenology as a whole, and scores an incredible 4.35 in our book! ...
