Coastal Road Trip 2024 We found this location where the Klamath River meets the Ocean. A short walk to the ocean in late August yielded one native camping in a sheltered zone, four wildlife agents chatting about work, and a couple miles of talking too and taking in the playfulness of a few dozen sea lions or seals who enjoyed frolicking near the beach side as the ocean tide meets the river. I’ve come to find out every fisherman knows this area but for me it was a highlight in late summer as we travelled the entire California coast line. Read moreThis is known locally as Klamath Beach. It's 1.3 miles past Kamp Klamath where the mouth of the Klamath River meets the Pacific Ocean. The Ocean is very rough here with very strong waves and rip tides, but a sand bar separates the river from the Ocean and you can swim on the river side of the sand bar.
