First off I don't usually review properties, but this time I just had to. We came to this particular location arriving late as we traveled far. Walking in its very nice and clean. But after this it went downhill. We checked in and I think we got the last room. The girl was ok at front but we asked is there any food available as we were starving, front desk told us we would have to drive 30 MILES to get food ...are you serious! you have a hotel in the mountains where no food is available there should be something in the hotel for patrons to get food. It makes no sense to me there is a restaurant in the hotel and it was NEVER opened when we visited.
I think you really need to work on this with this location, people come up here to hike etc and want to come back to there hotel and have some kind of food, especially when there's a restaurant in the hotel. So we go up to our room right by an electrical closet, fold up beds in front of the door and a crib... oh it gets better we walk into our room and on the bathroom sink was a 2 piece mouthpiece that a previous guest had left GROSS!! obviouly only the bed had been made no detailed cleaning.. We drug all our things downstairs and she says there are no more rooms only EMERGENCY ones??? what does that mean. Ughhh we drug all our things back upstairs. My husband was aggravated at this time. Then 10 minutes later the girl calls our room and says we could move down the hallway, we said forget it at this point. She says we could talk to her manager the next day. So next morning we went for breakfast that is offered, yes it was nice and clean and comfortable but the hot food WASNT ready so you had to wait... this happened the next morning also. We just couldn't understand with such a nice hotel and location things were not organized and professional.
So we were told we would get a discount of $40.00 off our bill not much but better then nothing. Let me say no staff ever said sorry or hello or anything. Everyone looked miserable, like they don't like there job, They need to have much more customer service, being friendly saying hello good morning etc! So we go to check out and i asked if she was the manager she said No, I gave her the mouth piece that was left in our room she said nothing, i told her our bill was suppose to be discounted 40.00 a night. She told me they never discount $40.00 a night.. I told her Im not making this up ma'am. She says I DIDNT SAY YOU DID! she says they usually write things like this in a book about a discount and nothing was written in the book ? After standing there and waiting 10 mins she typed stuff and threw our bill on the counter. She said does that work, she was RUDE. I don't know why I didn't say anything to her at that point. I gave up. So this is how i feel, the hotel itself is in a prime location very clean looking, but you need to work on the staff in this location and cleanliness in the room and have FOOD available. I think this would make peoples stays much more pleasant. Say hello to people, be welcoming. No one said sorry to us.... Im hoping this hotel will work on things it is in a beautiful place...
Read moreThis is not a typical review. I stayed at this hotel last week, the night of the 29th. Earlier that day was the massive earthquake in Russia. Around 8pm that night, myself, along with everyone else, received an emergency text of a Tsunami Warning, impacting coastal California including Klamath and Crescent City. In a panic, I immediately went to the front desk to figure out what to do. The woman working that evening was completely useless. First, when she came out from the back room, she chose to argue with me whether or not we were in a watch or a warning. I told her 3 different times I received a Tsunami Warning message on my phone. By that point, several other people had come off the elevators and stairs to join me at the front desk, as they all had received the same emergency text. The woman told us there was nothing to worry about, as we were 10 miles from the coast. If you are reading this, pull up maps and look at the location of this hotel, it is less than 2 miles from the ocean, and less than 1 mile from the big river. This woman gave all of us incorrect information and downplayed the entire situation. Most of us, after hearing her nonsense, chose to evacuate and head to higher ground. Long story short, everything ended up being fine, no Tsunami surge, no issues other than some stress and losing sleep sitting on the side of the highway all night on high ground with no cell phone coverage. I wanted to write this review because of this woman. The hotel was fine, but she was useless. Everyone staying there were tourists. We are not from the coast of California. We do not get warnings like that where we live. We came to her for help of what to do, where to go, etc., and she had nothing. No plan. No answers. Never bothered to pick up the phone to make a call to get some info, only seemed to want to argue with us as to whether or not we were in danger. I would suggest the management of this business conduct some better training so their employees are better prepared in emergency situations. I am well aware this is an extremely rare circumstance, but it happened to all of us there that night, and there was no employee available that could offer any...
Read moreMy family stayed in a very clean and well-appointed room with two queen beds. The room was spacious with ample room for our luggage. The WiFi speed was decent, clocking in at 30 Mbps down and 20 Mbps up. There was a reasonably large fridge, though it lacked a freezer compartment. But, I realized later that if I put my ice packs to the rear of the 2nd shelf they would partially freeze. Unfortunately, there was no cell phone reception for AT&T in the area.||We had a quiet room on the top floor (3rd floor), although there were noisy kids in the adjacent room at times. The hotel offers plenty of free parking, which was convenient. For a quieter stay, I recommend requesting a room away from the highway.||One highlight was the hot breakfast available starting at 6:30 am. I particularly enjoyed the signature Holiday Inn Express cinnamon rolls! Do note that check-in is at 4 pm, which is later than the usual 3 pm at most hotels.||The hotel's location is perfect for exploring both the Redwood State and National Parks to the north and south. Overall, it's a great choice for a central location and comfortable stay.||There are limited dining options in the immediate area around the hotel. The closest and best option would be the Abalone Grill, located adjacent to the hotel within a small casino. It's worth noting that the restaurant's hours can be inconsistent, based on what I've read in postings. My family didn't eat here, so I can't comment on the food or service.||If you're looking for more dining choices, Crescent City is your next best option, about a 30-minute drive north.||Overall, our stay at the hotel was pleasant and convenient, especially for exploring the nearby Redwood State and National Parks. Despite issues like zero cell reception and the occasional room noise, the comfortable accommodations made our...
