What an incredible museum! I’ve been to my fair share of holocaust museums, including the Dachau concentration camp in Germany and this museum is completely different than the rest of them. I loved the extreme connection to St Louis and focus on what led to this massacre, all relating to current events and ultimately focusing on how we can each individually insure this doesn’t happen again. The plans they have to engage with the larger community and through the metro education system are worth supporting and take a direction I wish more museums would do. All of the museum staff and docents were super knowledgeable and happy to not only answer questions but engage in a conversation. It’s also only a short 6 min drive from the airport so a great stop heading in or out of the airport. Overall, can’t recommend this museum enough! Thank you to all the St Louis survivors, museum staff, docents, and curators for an unforgettable experience.

Our visit here was very emotional; I cried the entire way through and had to skip a large section of the middle to be honest. Thankfully, the staff were very knowledgeable and very friendly, which helped me a great deal in navigating my emotional journey through the exhibits. I was surprised by how many interactive opportunities there were to listen to voices of survivors and to follow their journeys. If you are looking to further understand the history of the holocaust and to be inspired to foster loving relationships in your own community, I highly recommend you make time to engage at the Museum. It’s a good idea to bring tissues.

We took our 8th graders here for a field trip. The docent was excellent - her grandparents were Holocaust survivors. She did a great job telling the story of how everything started and what it was like for those affected by the Holocaust. She shared personal stories of Antisemitism and stories of the successes of survivors in the St. Louis community. We also met with a survivor who showed pictures of his family, and their escape from Germany. While we were there I was texting other friends - telling them to come and visit. The exhibits were a good mix of text, pictures, audio, and artifacts. Highly recommend.

Absolutely amazing and impactful. It was extremely rich with information. Though the subject of the place can seem overwhelming to endure, it is not. It does not feel like something you “should do” for an uncomfortable good lesson. It is massively impactful, emotional at times, and an amazing representation of some of the worlds recent history that can leave you awestruck and breathless.

We make a point to go to a musuem or cultural destination twice a month, and this is hands down the most impactful experience dripping with both entertainment value as well as substance. A must see. Don’t be scared. You some how come out better than you were when you walked in without knowing it. I love how you really live and feel the pre WW2 time line though the final resolution into the late fifties. Also does not just cover the Americans experience (us) but how it affected many countries thoughout the world, the good bad, ugly and costly, selfish and deeply down right demonic evil choices that were made, to create a whirlwind tonado world wide storm of genocide. Something we should never forget. Racism sucks. Do it. Go. And also opt for the audio...

I first heard about the Holocaust museum a few months ago and had been building up my courage to visit. My father was a Colonel in the Army and we were stationed in Germany during my teenage years. Our trip to Dauchau was one I will never forget. The St. Louis museum was striking beautiful. Inside, everyone I came into contact with was wonderful. The guide, Bill was so knowledgeable and impressive-I had to ask him to repeat what he had said many times because what he said was so important that I didn't want to forget anything. Towards the end of my visit, I noticed a beautiful, petite lady giving a gentleman a private tour and i was sniffling reading a sign- she walked over to me, put her hand on my shoulder and asked if I was OK. I mumbled yeah and then she asked if she could give me a hug. I said yes, next thing I know Bill is by my side handing me kleenex! Then I found out that sweet woman was Helen, the director and curator. Wow! Such compassion. Anyway, Bill informed me I was only 25% through the museum! I plan on going back weekly until I make it all the way through. Thank...

I have been to Dachau twice, and visited a few other Holocaust museums. This newly renovated museum is very well done. If you choose to take the tour, do go back and take your time reading through the self-guided displays. There is much more to unpack that the tour won't cover. Spent almost two hours, taking my time, did not take the tour but was close behind and listened to some of the narrative. I know the staff means well, when they barge in verbally, but I found it disruptive while trying to read and reflect on my own. There are great artifacts from local survivors! There are no bathrooms in the museum so you have to go back out to the lobby. Currently nothing to see in the lower level. To enter the museum you have to go through metal detectors/security and I was asked if I have weapons. No. I don't. It seemed too much, but the Jewish community (and others) have been targeted for so long. It was a reality check. The showcase of STL survivors is really demonstrative of the spirited survivors and their stories.I pray none of us have to navigate such horrific...
