This is a great picnic area whether you have kids and need a break from sunshine, hiking and biking, or find yourself with a moment to practice a mindful pause. Today is 6/19/24, the road is still closed so it is perhaps more peaceful than it might be if traffic was going through-we are in a heat dome presently, the app says it’s 89 but feels like 92 with 48% humidity, but sitting in the shade of these oaks, they diminish the car sounds of business 15 and I have the space to myself. There is a nice breeze, if I was in a park with open fields it would be blistering so this is a perfect spot especially for children and older people today to take some respite in nature from the blistering heat and sun. There is a clean and well kept restroom facility not even a minutes walk through the woods. I thought perhaps they would be deeper in the woods. I have met many friends with their kids here before simply because it is clean, spacious, plenty of tables and safe and ultimately- in the summer- wooded with shade! If you are planning any bike or hiking time in the battlefield it’s a nice built in stop. Very clean and during daylight hours very comfortable for...
