⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Bold and Moving – Mississippi Monument Tells a Powerful Story

The Mississippi Monument at Gettysburg is a striking tribute that immediately grabs your attention. Located near the fields of Pickett’s Charge, it features two Confederate soldiers—one standing firm and the other wounded, still pressing forward. It perfectly captures the grit, sacrifice, and human cost of the battle.

The detail in the sculpture is incredible, and the emotional expression carved into the figures feels real, not just symbolic. It doesn’t glorify—it honors. There’s a quiet strength in the way the monument tells the story of Mississippi’s role at Gettysburg.

The setting is peaceful and thought-provoking, with a view that helps you appreciate the scale of what happened on these grounds. It’s a spot where history feels personal. If you’re exploring the battlefield, don’t miss this one. It’s...

Biased I’m sure, as I am a Mississippian, but this monument is by far the most dramatic and emotionally charged of all the monuments of the Gettysburg battlefield. It captures the desperate fighting of the Mississippi men as they pushed across the field on the second day of battle. One soldier stands, out of ammunition, swinging his rifle above his fallen color bearer, ragged, barefoot and threadbare....

The monument to the soldiers from the State of Mississippi stands near where the Mississippians from General Barksdales’ Brigade formed to launch their assault on the Union Lines on the afternoon of July 2nd 1863. Mississippi sent over 4,900 soldiers to Gettysburg and some 1,500 became casualties during the battle. The monument was dedicated in 1973 and was sculpted by...

A heck of a work of art and memorial by Don DeLue as the other reviewer mentioned. It is very unique and striking, as the soldier seeks to swing his rifle over his fallen colour-bearer. One could only think of what might have been going through their minds if a situation like this arose in the heat of battle. Very much worth a stop, cheers.
