The Beaver Marsh is a beautiful beaver made wetland with over 240 birds and other wildlife that come to this spot. It is located on the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail. This was originally a junkyard prior to 1984. The Sierra Club cleaned up the junk. Then the beaver got to work and made a wetland within Ohio's only National Park. I have visited this place over 50 times. It's great to just observe or you can bike right on a wooden bridge that goes through it. We also get lots of Blue Heron that come here to eat fish and it's fun to watch them before they migrate south in the fall. I chose this because it's great and it fits right in with Beaver...

This is a great spot any time of day to see wildlife. Turtles, birds, beavers, snakes! The boardwalk is the best spot for spotting anything but as you walk the towpath keep an eye on the trees or in the water for wildlife. The path is flat so it's easy to walk or run & there are benches to sit at along the way. Sunrise is a good time because of the fog on some mornings & at sunset the reflections of the clouds in the marsh is beautiful. If you're in the CVNP this is a must stop because it's truly a gem if you...

Went for a night hike and experienced the swamp after sunset, including the pungent smell of what must have been a mink! Came back the next morning and enjoyed the solitude and many birds. The boardwalk is well-maintained and free of bumps and trip hazards. We felt safe and despite there being quite a few people walking/biking through on the tow path trail, the marsh was peaceful and serene. I could have stayed a lot liber than I did, just...

A wonderful section of the Ohio and Erie Towpath trail in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Located just north of the Ira Road Trailhead. A great place to see birds and wildlife. I’ve seen otters, beavers, and wood ducks to name a few. The trail is well maintained, mostly crushed limestone with some paved sections. We always enjoy a bike ride or hike along the canal path and Crooked River otherwise known as the Cuyahoga River.
