Rock shelter in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. A small plaque in the center of the cave text: "In Memory of Mary Campbell Who in 1759 at the age of twelve years was kidnapped from her home in Western Pennsylvania by Delaware Indians. In the same year these Indians were forced to migrate to this section where they erected their village at the big falls of the Cuyahoga. As a result Mary Campbell was the first white child on the Western Reserve and this tablet marks the cave where she and the Indian women temporarily lived. Later, in 1764, she was returned to her home. Erected by the Mary Campbell Society Children of the American Revolution of Cuyahoga Falls, 1934

The cave looked more like a cliff but when you start to really look, it's made up of 3 different kind of rock and clay at the the bottom that Native Americans made their pottery from. When you read why it's called Mary Campbell Cave it gets a little more real. its not. a long walk, and the. have a picnic table to rest if you need it's called Old Woman Kitchen and you could actually have a cook out there. All this and the water falls is just below this all. You go down some wooden steps and it's a loud falls which is surprising the you get right up to it. It is the Gorge very impressive.

The Gorge is an amazing, beautiful park, and the trails are amazing, been hiking them since I was very young and have been going back since. Been to the Mary Campbell cave for years, it's at the beginning of the top hiking path, basically located north of the waterfall. The top path is closed publicly now after the cave because it's somewhat treacherous but if your into more of an extreme hike it's amazing and the caves that follow are beyond beautiful. Great place to take kids as well.

Had to stop to see Mary Campbell cave. It was amazing. The rock formations and lush trees were gorgeous. The archeologist and a team of volunteers were engaged in their work, but stopped to take pictures and shared pictures of the area from the 1800s. The people were very nice. The park was clean and well kept. The water was pretty as well. Enjoyed the short walk up the trail to the cave.

Really neat place with so much to look at. Really impressed with the cave location. It’s not a cave like you’d typically think (which I knew before going) but you feel like you’re in a very special place. Had a lot of fun looking at the rocks. Stairs down to base of dam falls was great too! Nice stop off. Ample parking and clean bathrooms next to parking lot. Picnic table areas.

The clay runoff is fun and there is handprints on some section from little kids too. The rocks are cool to climb and the trails are a little slippery, you just have to be careful. You can see the falls better as well since the trial to it is closed right now(8-15-20)
