This is a review of the Highbridge Trail, Gorge Metro Park.

A stunning pic of an overlook on Natural Ohio's Instagram page attracted me to this trail. What Natural Ohio forgot to tell it's Instagram followers is that the place from which the picture was taken is not accessible, at least legally accessible, from the trail. So you can imagine how disappointed I was when I got to the spot on the trail where I was supposed to ascend to get an amazing overlook view of the valley. Not only was I disappointed by the inaccessibility of overlook, no fault to the Gorge Metro Park, but I was also disappointed by the trail. The path of the trail follows the path of rustic power lines that, for me, are an eye soar. Add the gravel path to the power lines and it feels like I was walking along a service road, not in a park. If that wasn't enough, there was an unpleasant smell coming from something nearby (the Cuyahoga River, a skunk, trash? I don't know). Unpleasant visuals and smells put a damper on my park experience. I think the worst park is how the sounds of the Cuyahoga River tempt you from the trail saying, "It's beautiful down hear. The gentle, rustling water is peaceful." The only saving grace to the Highbridge Trail is the shaded trail you can descend to via 100 wooded steps. The vibrant greens of the trees and the sound of the river and birds experienced along this short trail made the 3 mile hike better...

best outdoorsy area in summit county...great hiking trails just a nice place to go and get out and walk around... And people watch... Dear God I swear they come out of the wood work at this beautiful outdoor wonderland when the sun comes out... I'm pretty sure I say 3 kids not together on leashes .. two women that I'm everything but positive were vampires.... Two men who looked like two women that I'm everything but positive were vampires... I think I also saw a circus clown and a midget... I'm sorry I think the politically correct term is CIRCUS ENTERTAINER ...also a dog that was definetly an alien or of another planet ...and the creepiest dude with the creepiest hat and mustache..also with a kid on a leash..and the show stopper ..a young lady who had kim kardashian cardi b and Nikki Minajs rear ends all wrapped up in the trippest pair of parachute pants I've ever seen with the BIGGEST LAME of a boyfriend who either had a HUGE bank account or HUGE...swimming pool at his house...what did u think I was gonna say?.. but I could be mistaken because I did split an 8th of some very potent mushrooms with my homie Shane ... Shout out to Shane Smith from wadsworth ohio and his sister jake.. it's hard telling what jakes got up his sleeve ..shout out to the creator of both those fine young role models STEVEEEE ... u can find Steve at put-in-bay miller lite in one hand scantly clad dame in the...

Our family have been coming to this park for years. Other than a few parks in the Cuyahoga Valley and Nelson Ledges, you are not going to find large rock formations and cliffs like this in many other public places in north eastern Ohio. This place is really cool. The lower trail will take you by the river and waterfall. The upper trail will take you by large towering rock formations and caves. There are pavilions and picnic tables to sit and eat. A modernized restroom. (Not just a portable toilet). There is a dock off the lower trail just before the dam that you can fish off of. It lacks a playground but in my experience kids really enjoy this place. The pictures don't do it justice. It's really surreal being up close to terra firma so massive. It's one of the closest parks we have locally to an experience in mountainous states like in the Colorado's, Appalachia, Cascade mountain states etc.

A Little history about our cave parks : As of the 80's and 90s not many know this but many of the caves in ALL the parks were mostly filled in with trees and dirt or locked off. I actually got to explore many of the caves 30+ years ago as a child. They even gave tours when I was little. I was actually at Nelson ledges and Virginia Kendall a couple times when they were filling in the caves. It happened because people actually died in a few or died trying to...

In this review of the Gorge metro park I'm only going to talk of the entrance of the park. The reason being is because in my reviews I noticed people like it more when I really take time to break things down and with the Gorge , well truthfully I didn't really know where to start and stop so I'll be doing three reviews #1 being for me at least my #1 favorite spot which is where everyone can enjoy a nice cookout amongst other things , the park offers which is where it's grills station is. In this area I deemed the grills station also offers a nice stretch of grass where on a warm enough day one might also go to take part in a game of soccer , touch football, or simply a toss sport like frisbee. The picture I took really doesn't do the park justice, honestly I almost am tempted to not show it but there will be nicer pics to follow so keep a look out for my second review but as always the gorge will be getting a 5 star review in my opinion. Oh also restrooms are available in this dog friendly picnic area of the park!!!
