My wife and I visited this winery on Saturday, May 18, 2019. We are retired and enjoy traveling. As part of our routine, we always visit the local winery(s) wherever we are. Hence, we have visited a good number of them. Dalhart is a small city (7,000+ inhabitants) and we figured we'd set the bar low to avoid being disappointed. Although we never uttered any words to that effect, we knew the moment we walked in we owed the owners a huge apology. The facility is a converted post office that has been modernized, perfectly redesigned, and tastefully decorated. The result was a, albeit small, charming vestibule that leads to an open area with a beautiful lounge equipped with a gorgeous fireplace, and an attractive bar...all yielding a most inviting and welcoming ambiance.
Our visit was made even more enjoyable by the cordial reception from the owners. They were more than willing to engage with us in an amicable conversation that allowed me to walk down memory lane (I spent my summers in Dalhart from the early 60's to the early 70's) . We talked about family ties and people that might still be around rendering the conversation a most pleasant one.
The Vingo Vineyards Winery offers a variety of fine Texas wines. While the owners attended to other customers, we enjoyed a nice "Cab" in front of the fireplace. My thoughts made me harken back to my high school days and a short story by Ernest Hemingway I read in my English class. It was titled, "A Clean, Well-Lighted Place." If I lived in Dalhart, I would visit this winery regularly to sit on the comfortable couch, and enjoy a glass of...
Read moreWhat an absolute gem! Dalhart, Texas is so fortunate to have this beautiful place to enjoy quality wine! I was pleasantly surprised, impressed and delighted by the delicious wines. The Pinot Pinot is a wonderful surprise with layers of complexity and goodness! The Cab Franc was the best! Deep, dark and a silky feel as it rolls around in your mouth! The Rosé is dry and pleasingly smooth- a patio pleaser on a hot day. Napa and Washington wines are my favorite but this is making me a believer in Texas wines! Do not miss this on your drive thru (Thursday and Fridays only -unless appointment made) or if you are a local! To sip these beauties- in a historic old building that served Dalhart as a post office for generations- is a perfect evening spent. Let’s support these Texas wineries and get the richness, flavor and quality you find in California or Washington state! They have proven...
Read moreMe and my wife went to visit your winery on 6/28/2024 at around 5pm. We both wanted to do a tasting as she likes different varieties then I do . At 15 dollars a tasting we were okay with the price and usually buy a case of what we like . We were met by your employee and told we could do 2 tastings as long as they were the same flavors. I said I want to do a different tasting of different flavors , to that they said we can't do that in case we get busy . There was no one there at all. She proceeded to say "if you don't like that ...... well........ that's just the rules ". We walked out after that . I do not recommend wasting time...
