The Highland Hills branch is located in southeast Dallas, near the 45/20 merge, on Bonnie View just south of Camp Wisdom/Simpson Stuart. The neighborhood isn't as nice as it appears on the surface.
The library is new, modern without being ostentatious; beautifully designed and landscaped. A huge parking lot with very easy access for the handicapped.
The library is designed horizontally, meaning that as you enter the books are to your left and right. Straight ahead are 24 desktop computers slightly cramped together on two long tables.
To the right is a good-sized adult fiction section and a surprisingly small children's. They do have a number of circular hassock-type chairs for the kiddos which look comfy and cute. They remind me of big red toadstools. One minor quibble is that the ends of the bookshelves aren't labelled.
To the left are the CDs, nonfiction, Afro-American, Spanish language and young adult sections.
There are floor-to-ceiling windows comprising the back (north facing) wall, with chairs alone or with tables all along - the whole length of the library.
The bathroom is very clean and spacious. Even the privacy screen is something to behold.
The library seems somewhat underutilized, which is a shame but as a result is very quiet. I recommend you pay a visit if you're...
Read moreI am giving this a 3 star rating. This rating has nothing to do with the Library itself but due to all the other raters that have posted before me. All I hear are grown ups complaining, whining, griping and getting angry about how loud these kids and older kids were. Maybe, just maybe if you looked beyond the "noise", you'd have notice children none the less hanging out at a library instead of our someplace else more scary and even dangerous. They are smart enough to go there a library and until it's time to go home. They may not have another place to go. But us as adults we do have options. We can get up and leave and venture further out. Maybe this library is the only place that's waking distance from where these children reside. And, lastly, if the employees aren't even getting onto them. Why not let kids be just that kids. I mean unless if they are hurting you or anyone else for that matter physically, sooner or later they will leave and go home. As they say patience is a virtue and kids are definitely not patient at all. 🤷🏽♀️Hopefully this doesn't offend anyone to the core as is it's not my intention. 🙅🏽♀️ Today is national vanilla...
