In my previous review I started that I could not bring myself to buy bananas at that store because of their unsightliness. But on my return a couple of months ago I found to my delight that they had beautiful yellow creamy bananas without bruising. There still were no green bananas. And there were no yellow bananas with green the green tinge but it was a big improvement. Also, they always have great sweet potatoes.
And I also found that they carry jumbo eggs at a very reasonable price. Now, I don't have to wait (and drive) to purchase them at Winco in Duncanville. If the Food Basket keeps this up they will certainly get more of my business.
There is also excellent pricing on heavy duty coated paper plates. I also saw frozen mustard greens at a reasonable price.
And while the pricing is somewhat on the high side for some things and the inventory is very limited, the managers will try to include into their inventory just about anything you request of them.
The managers are very accommodating as are the staff on the day shift. However the night shift is the exception. But the night shift is sorely lacking people skills and courtesy. They seem to be more interested in themselves than they are in helping you. I DO NOT recommend you shopping there at night if you can avoid it.
Other than that, I was pleasantly surprised at the name brand expansion in the inventory. More more well-known and sought after items are now included.
I am glad that I continue to visit the store from time to time. Because every time I go there they...
Read moreI entered the store and was amazed at how fully stocked the shelves were, unlike the store that was previously there. A lot of the produce looked excellent, Saw some over ripe bananas, not a huge deal. Then I get to the meat, and let's just say most were in unfavorable condition (hope they get that situated soon) Also, the prices didn't match the quantity. Eggs cost more than at Walmart, but if you absolutely need them, they have'em. All basics are there, milk, bread, eggs, cereal, fruits, veggies, sandwich meat, a good selection of frozen foods, and treats. Now price wise for things in the store, I didn't pay much attention except for what I listed above, but they do have a great variety and more than one specific brand. And the one thing I went in there for was wayyy cheaper than I ever expected (it felt like I was stealing, lol).
Overall.. The store was very clean. Shelves were fully stocked. Staff were very friendly and had "can do" attitudes. Some things are overpriced. Some are dirt cheap. Glad to have a neighborhood grocery...
