Great trails and beautiful scenery as well as interesting historic remnants, definitely a less developed spot which I particularly enjoy definitely want to explore further in drier times of year and suspect the shade and trees are fantastic in summer - only drawback is the "parking" which happens to correspond with relatively recent popular spots to ditch stolen cars... Since my vehicle doesn't scream "MY OWNER IS A NATURE HIPPIE!!!!" Some officers of Dallas PD were having the great debate on calling it in for recovery when I came back to it. The officers, who I'd passed on part of the trail maybe 20 mins before, were really friendly and glad to find that I belonged to the vehicle sitting there, and I was really happy I didn't have to deal with extracting my g-ride from the black hole known as the Dallas County Impound Lot... I think next time I might call the non-emergency line and let dispatch know my plate number and where I'll be parking it, so all parties can avoid that...

In a neglected part of far southeast Dallas, this nature park is a pretty slice of prairie and water features. Rustic truck path leads to a pleasant stretch of Elam creek that features shoal with fossil shells imprinted on it. There is no parking on Fairview street, you just have to leave your car on the end of the road. The asphalt is built up high on this road and there's a chance your car will high-center on it if you try to pull off. There are no handicap features or bathrooms at this park. The half mile trail is what appears to be simply a farm truck path that meanders through some wooded valleys and ends at Elam creek. Many prairie grasses and older forest wood in this area, the trees are abundant in the lower, wetter areas. When hiking, be careful as the white rock can shift and send you...

I went in the morning and enjoy the scenery saw several wild hogs, brids, even a small bobcat. Dallas workers clean and trash and mow the grass. The view and moments you spend at the bridge make it well worth the hike. This trail leads into more trails so distance is not a worry. Primarily we'll pave concrete so different wheels can make the trip. Well shaded on most parts this trial has more evening shade but know your surroundings it...

Nice secluded spot to hike, with pretty river views. The trail is in rough shape from ATVs, and it appears that locals have tried to claim some of the public land for themselves, putting up "keep out" signs in little coves.
