My son recently visited the museum. He visited with his Personal Support Worker because my son is developmentally delayed. When they pulled in a man from the museum came right out and asked them what they were doing there, asked if they were bums. Told them if they were they needed to leave. I recommended they visit the museum because my husband, daughter and I visited recently and thought it was a really nice museum. It is a nice museum, however as a mom I am highly disappointed that my son was treated this way and spoken to so rudely. It was uncalled for and should have been handled very differently. The admission price for an adult was only five bucks which compared to other museums, is amazingly cheap but you get your money’s worth. The introductory presentation given to us by Tom was great and informative. The entire staff is volunteer based and they clearly love what they do, the place was clean and the exhibits were well taken care of. HOWEVER, many of the pictures and displays are not adequately labeled or explained. Some were confusing as to significance. More signage and explanation would be very helpful.
