Stepping into the Polk County Museum feels like stepping back in time! From authentic pioneer artifacts to interactive exhibits, there's something to captivate learners of all ages. There’s a dedicated kids area supplied with traditional toys and games from the mid-1800s onward. Our kids had fun typing sentences on typewriters, playing with a Jacob’s Ladder, and working on a 1960s wooden puzzle. They were intrigued to see that some of the toys and table games are still being played even today. @DinkumTribe ADHD family travel @DinkumTribe ADHD family travel @DinkumTribe ADHD family travel #oregontravelguide #oregontravelblogger #oregonkids #salemoregon #thingstodowithkids #oregonhistory #oregonhistorydiscovered #rainydayactivities

My son recently visited the museum. He visited with his Personal Support Worker because my son is developmentally delayed. When they pulled in a man from the museum came right out and asked them what they were doing there, asked if they were bums. Told them if they were they needed to leave. I recommended they visit the museum because my husband, daughter and I visited recently and thought it was a really nice museum. It is a nice museum, however as a mom I am highly disappointed that my son was treated this way and spoken to so rudely. It was uncalled for and should have been handled very differently. Until you were given a reason to believe they were up to no good, you should have NOT...

Great exhibits from different points of history, the staff were knowledgeable and very friendly. The admission price for an adult was only five bucks which compared to other museums, is amazingly cheap but you get your money’s worth. The introductory presentation given to us by Tom was great and informative. The entire staff is volunteer based and they clearly love what they do, the place was clean and the exhibits were well taken care of. The historical society president, Mr. David M., seems to run a tight ship and sets a standard for other...

The staff are very helpful volunteers and there are MANY types of exhibits: Oregon Trail, logging, early post offices, founding citizens, rifles and arms, militaria, militaries, farming... the list goes on. HOWEVER, many of the pictures and displays are not adequately labeled or explained. Some were confusing as to significance. More signage and explanation would be very helpful. I just stood there too often wondering what something was. Otherwise I would...
