I was looking for somewhere to stay in Marblehead as a last minute get away from the city (Columbus), and came across this beautiful property on Google Maps. So glad I did! [Lengthy review, but worth it if you’re looking to stay] Chris (the owner) was very helpful in accommodating our 2 night, last minute stay. We were on the 3rd floor in the Lakeside Room. As others have mentioned and Chris explained prior to us making the reservation, there are no elevators and they do offer to carry your bags, both which were no problems for us being younger. The ROOM was absolutely pristine. We travel often and have frequented many Inns, Private BnBs as well as corporate AirBnBs and have yet to come across one this clean! (*see my other Google reviews*) We even slept with the comforter ON the bed if that speaks to you! Plenty of towels, extra linens, toiletries, and a blow dryer. The kitchen was well stocked although we didn’t use it to cook. I’d call it an efficiency kitchen, but really, it is a standard, small, full size kitchen. The interior of the property itself was super quaint! There was a spiral staircase leading to a ‘widows watch’ or ‘lookout tower’ that had spectacular views of the lake! On the 2nd floor landing, there was a well stocked library and coffee + water bar that was much appreciated in the mornings:) There was even a jar of Nature Valley bars, which was nice to grab on our way to sight see for the day! The exterior of the property was obviously adjoined with the winery (*see my review*) and offered many places to relax and enjoy a morning coffee or a glass of vino. They also had complementary bicycles out front, 1st come, 1st serve, which was a fun little way to get around the village for a bit. Obviously the pièce de résistance to us was the winery on the property, which we thoroughly enjoyed! They had a very good array of sweet to dry wines, as well as some spirits, bottle, can, and local draft craft beer. We had a wonderful stay, would recommend, and will come again!

The best place to stay while in the area. This was our second time staying at the Red Fern. We stayed in the Kelly's Island room, which was appropriate since we were headed to Kelly's Island the next day. The room was immaculately clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are decorated nicely with a nautical theme. The Inn was an elementary school, and they did a great job of converting it into an inn. It's very roomy and has everything you need for a pleasant stay. You are close to the shops and restaurants in Marblehead, and probably the best thing is the lower half is a winery. Also, the Kelly's Island ferry is located about 5 minutes away. Forgot to mention, you get a complimentary bottle of wine with your stay.

Conveniently located near the ferry to Kelly’s Island. Staff were very kind and friendly. They are happy to take your bags up or down (no elevator) and it’s easy assess in and out with the key codes. The landing had a coffee area and books for lending - giving a cozy feel to the place. The little restaurant area out back is cute. Our room was on the second floor and was spacious and had a kitchen also. Plenty of room for a family. We could hear the people outside - coming and going but things quite down early there so wasn’t an issue. We could hear the person in the room above walking around, that got us up early… Was a nice place but was a little pricey.

One night stay for our anniversary in the Bay Point Room. Greeted by Chris the owner who was very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and very cute. Nice view of the lake from the bed! We took advantage of the full kitchen to cook breakfast in the morning which was nice since it was rainy and we were not in a hurry to leave. We had arrived at 3pm check in, took a short driving tour of the area then settled in at the winery for drinks. As guests we were given a coupon for a free cheese plate and a bottle of wine. We tried a flight of wines outside then settled on two glasses of our favorite. We were allowed to swap our free bottle for one we liked better and took that home. The setting is very nice, relaxing and the staff are friendly. We had our anniversary dinner at Gideon Owen winery nearby. The lighthouse is worth a visit and very close by. Bikes are available to Inn guests. Really nice stay, would...
