The place is lovely. That is why I booked it. Unfortunately, my relationship failed just a month before the date that I booked the venue.
The Living Sculpture Sanctuary refused to refund even one payment for the booking of the venue.
The Living Sculpture Sanctuary did zero work for me, we engaged in no planning, and they kept all ~$8000 dollars while having no costs associated with my booking. While The Living Sculpture Sanctuary has operating costs, those costs have nothing to do with booking a date and not having any expenses taken on by the venue. It's unethical to keep the full deposit in this case.
Do not sign this venue's contracts unless they remove their own "protection" of non refundable deposits, or include additional protections for clients. There is no protection for YOU at all. They won't even give back a dime.
You are contracted to make payments in regular intervals, and yet The Living Sculpture Sanctuary refused to refund even just my last payment made about a month prior to having to cancel. They weren't happy with only $6,000 they needed to keep all $8,000. So, on top of my grief, I lost a ton of savings.
I was offered two years of credit to use my deposit towards another event, however, almost every year the prices go up so I would still need to give The Living Sculpture Sanctuary at least a thousand dollars to book at the new price. (This offer is also not detailed in any contract. So, do not expect it.)
This place is pretty, it's nice, but it's not worth it. Go to a beach or another venue that is far cheaper and that will respect you in the event something terrible happens.
While protections in contracts are important, it's also important to have protections and advocacies for customers. The Living Sculpture Sanctuary offers no protections or advocacies for customers in the event that their dates must be cancelled. At the same time, The Living Sculpture Sanctuary has extremely expensive and restrictive policies regarding vendors.
I learned a valuable lesson. I hope that this warning prevents others from going through the same experience.
Lovely place, absolutely no protections for clients. You'd think that a place based on "zen" would be more worried about the karma associated with keeping people's money even if the date is cancelled and no expenses (absolutely zero) were shouldered by the venue, but they're clearly not.
Not worth it at all. Do not believe their "zen" nonsense because they obviously don't believe it either. They believe in dollars and they will keep them. I was told my case was extremely rare, and even still, I wasn't returned a dime. I hope that we all enjoy our karma.
Please take your time and review the responses to negative reviews here. You will find that The Living Sculpture Sanctuary is more concerned with asserting contract details than the concerns of clients. Red flag. You're warned.
To The Living Sculpture Sanctuary, I will not remove this review. If you feel defamed, sue me. You have made despicable responses to your other clients here. Your beloved sanctuary is a business, and your business has no advocacies for clients. You are more concerned with the bottom line than with the concerns and criticisms of your clients, or with karma. Maybe it's time for an energy cleanse?
06/15/23: As you can see, dear reader, there are no protections for the client in the contract. Therefore I recommend not signing unless protections are added for you. This venue benefited from my misfortune for ~$8,000 and could not even budge on refunding a single payment. What if I were destitute as a result of this? Well, at least the "sacredness" is protected. Find some place with a more respectful contract.
The argument that the venue only has one event per day is barely relevant given that some days there are no events at all. Had I never signed a contract, it could be a high percentage of likelihood that no event would have been held on that day. So, for doing no work whatsoever, the venue held ~$8,000 and refused to refund even a portion of it. Absolutely wicked...
Read moreWe just had our wedding here at Living sculpture sanctuary, and although it was a breathtaking view and gorgeous location the owner and Caroline (staff) was absolutely horrible!! Before the night even started as I’m (Bride) in the limo the owners staff- Caroline is calling me telling me i owe her $180 for the tax, as I’m on my way to my wedding, when i had paid Mary-owner in full already and she had counted and told me it was good and all there the day i payed her. When we viewed the property Mary- owner went on and on about how gorgeous the tiki torches are at night, they were never all lite, some went out and Caroline was asked to light them back up, she said they aren’t working ! There were lights around the entire structure that were never turned on so part of our guest were sitting in the dark using their phones as lights to eat their food! During the walk through that would of been the perfect time for them to tell us that those certain tables will be in the dark. We the Bride and Groom had to call during our dinner to ask to have the lights turned on, in which Caroline told us “they don’t work.” As a business owner wouldn’t you think to get these lights a test run to make sure everything is up and running ? How is it fair the day of my wedding I have no working lights ? The next day when we went there I spoke to Mary about the HUGE inconvenience this has caused and she told me that I never “requested” to have these specific so called “holiday lights” turned on !!! I asked her to show me proof where it says in the final walk through that I signed where it says to “request” the so called “holiday lights” .... Mary told me she couldn’t because it’s not on the paper !! So how would I know about this ? She also told me that they weren’t broken ! So the night of my wedding how come Caroline couldn’t turn these lights on for me ? Is it because she lazy ? How is this my responsibility? The power went out 4 times throughout the evening and caused an issue and delay with our food! My caterer had to run out twice to get more rice as the power issue cause the rice to burn. We paid 375$ for valet and the valet guys are telling our guest to get their own cars! The toilets got clogged up multiple times causing a mess on the floors, they ran out of toilet paper and my guest had to use the bathroom without any, you would think they would have more than enough toilet paper. We are so unbelievably upset with how unprofessional this venue was. They are telling us it’s our issue the bathrooms were messy when they had a plumbing issue and they had lack of toilet paper. They didn’t want to take responsibility for the power going out when my guest at half of the tables were eating an hour after everyone else. My husband and I went to the venue the day after to pick up the remainder of our things. Mary had pictures that were taken of some of the things we left behind. When we booked this venue in March we were told that we were allowed to leave things behind and we could pick them up in the morning. I was very confused about why she had the audacity to take pictures when we were told something else. Caroline (staff) told my caterer to tie up the garage bags and leave them next to the trash can out back. Which he did. Mary also took pictures of this as well and told us that they were suppose to be inside the trash cans. It’s clear that the staff has very poor communication amongst each other. I was charged $150 for leaving the trash bags exactly how the catering company was told. This is suppose to be the most magical perfect day for a Bride and Groom and although little things always happen big issues like these should be prevented and should never happen. It’s a gorgeous place and a good price but i would have rather spent more money and dealt with a more professional friendly venue. I would never recommend this venue to any couple getting married! Very...
Read moreI cannot begin to describe our amazing experience at this venue! Words cannot explain the perfection and vision behind everything here. From the first moment we visited the venue, we knew this was the perfect place for us to have our wedding. Not only we enjoyed every moment here but our guests were so impressed! The outdoor vibe and the balanced way everything is build it's absolutely impeccable, so peaceful and vibrant in the same time. There's so many different spots you can take pictures and enjoy, that I can't decide which one is my favorite! All our guests loved the venue so much and every time someone brings up our wedding, they mention how amazing the venue was. All my girlfriends want to do their weddings here and I cannot wait to come back as a guest too. The whole staff was also great to work with. We were assigned to Pilar, which is such a positive and beautiful person, and she was so helpful and easy to communicate with during the whole process. Also, I cannot begin to tell you how amazing the owners are! We were so lucky to meet them in person! They were so accommodating and provided us with way more than we requested. They made us feel so special and we are so thankful for the way we were treated! Our small wedding was during covid and I was so stressed out about how everything was going to be. On top of it we were expecting a rainy day with 60% chances plus the humidity! I really didn't know what to expect! But the owners assured me that no matter how the things are and how the weather will be, the wedding will still be amazing and so it was! They gave me so much hope and positive feelings that made me so confident and comfortable. As a matter of fact, I think we were blessed to have no rain at all and no issues whatsoever! We are so honored that we had the opportunity to get married here! Now I learned that wedding day passes so fast and it's overwhelming but I wish to the future brides to enjoy it more than worry about everything! We want to thank from the bottom of our hearts to the whole team for making our experience so amazing and specially to the owners for their touch and support that made a huge difference in our lives! It was such a pleasure meeting and working with you and we will never forget this experience! P.S. I couldn't pick a better desert rose! It's perfect and it will always remind us about how wonderful Living Sculpture Sanctuary is and the memories we made here! Thank you so much! Hope we'll see you soon again! Love,...
