I worked across the street in the food manufacturing company itself for around two and a half months, hired through the Dearborn sausage company as a full time employee not temporarily or part time and Iโm also signed up with the union and the union have taken money from my checks. Today I literally got fired by HR for absolutely no reason other than, they want to lower the number of employees at this time the beginning of a new year and work goes from 6 days to 4 days. They pretty much fired around half of the employees on my shift the afternoon shift for this reason as well and unsurprisingly they are mostly Hispanic, black and middle eastern, I am middle eastern which I think is discrimination and completely unjust, we were told to re apply after 90 days. I literally worked extremely strenuously hard in this company and had perfect attendance working up to 10 and a half hours a day and 6 days a week with the full permission of my manager and the sanitation manager and i would also do any favor the managers asked me to do and I helped everyone there when the work would be low and I finish early, I am always helpful, being extremely friendly and nice to all my coworkers, my manager Carol is literally the best manager Iโve ever had, sheโs very nice, fair and helpful. She almost cried when she told me she had to let me go and she couldnโt do anything about it, it was a decision from HR and so I think that itโs totally unfair to fire many employees when thereโs low work just because the company havenโt even given us as employees the opportunity to complete 90 days in the company as this is intentional, I was also told that they fire many employees at Christmas and new years time Iโve been here for two and a half months and I was hopefully planning to stay working here for years! What will they do next year if others and I are hired back in? Fire others and I again before completing the 90 days required to get hired in thatโs very unjust and makes absolutely no sense at all! I canโt even receive unemployment compensation or anything and I have payments and bills to pay and I have to go home and explain to my poor family why I and many others have been fired for this reason and I have to desperately find another job! This has made me feel very distressed. This is how Dearborn sausage treats most of their hard working employees! Does the owner know about this treatment from HR? Maybe he does know just like he knows about the black mold growing all over the walls and ceilings of the manufacturing facility. I have contacted a very good wrongful termination lawyer and we will...

These Pros and Cons are based on what I've seen and dealt with.
Honestly it's not a good place to work, unless you really need the Money and don't have any Family.
I've seen alot of people get fired for alittle mistake or something that wasn't really they fault at all. People have also been lied on by the Supervisor and Manager of the Kitchen.
Kitchen is ran like a Prison, so you're being watched like a Hawk with Cameras pointed all in your face.
It's all about numbers to them and it's very fast paced so you might wanna be in great shape if you get put on Machine duty.
BiWeekly Pay so you might bring home $1000+ after Taxes.
Breaks are really short and Lunch go by really fast so wouldn't recommend going to a Subway or any other fast food joint.
Extremely Cold/Smells like Death.. so better dress warm and have a Strong stomach for the smell. You will get very messy and smelly (Kitchen)
Greg and Jeff (Manager and Supervisor) those guy don't wear gloves at all when touching the Product (but will wear them when the Inspector is around) they will also talk to you any type of way so it's best to avoid them especially if you're of African descent. They have each others back so no use in reporting them. They will find anyone to put the blame on when something goes wrong just to save themselves..I've seen it happen twice.
Got a Family emergency or Kids to pick up from school? They don't care about that at all.
Point system might of change but I know if you get 6 points total..they walking you out the Door.
Health Inspector is there maybe 2 days out of the week and will be on your head like crazy..but she's only doing her Job so don't take it personal when she says something to you, she's good people.
Whatever you do..DON'T EAT THE MEAT they make. I've worked both Machines (Meat Grinder and the Mixer for Hot Dogs/Sausages)..I wouldn't dare feed my Dog or give a Homeless person on the Street any of that stuff.
If you're lucky you might end up in the room with the Seasonings..thats honestly the best area to be, along with the Spray room for cleaning Parts...
ย ย ย Read moreI visited the Dearborn location, only one person working behind the meat counters, I asked for a piece of the smoked kielbasa and bacon and proceeded to check out with my cart of items. I saw on the monitor display at the register that Garlic Bologna rang up, I informed the clerk I did not have garlic bologna, she had a scale at the register and said she would correct. After I got home I reviewed the receipt and found the clerk had not reversed the original entry and I was charged twice for my kielbasa, once for the incorrect entry and the second was the corrected entry. I phoned the store and was put in the phone loop for 19 minutes before I hung up and redialed, the second time after many prompts I got a live person and she transferred me to Catherines voice mail, by the end of day no one called me back so I tried again, this time waiting in the phone loop for 26 minutes. I phoned back this morning and was told I needed to come back in person and see Catherine even though I had the receipt with he ticket number on it, two of their employees made errors and I had to make the long commute over there to get it corrected. I packed up the entire order and returned it, I have never had such poor customer service, they didn't even attempt to make this right by me for all of the inconvenience and retain my business, I won't be back or use their products again, this was the last straw for me. If I could give zero...
