I changed our review from five star to three. At first I felt like I really enjoyed the Y giving the opportunity to my pandemic toddler to have play time with others and in the beginning it was okay but then the child Care staff became a little irritated with our little one who is only 20 months. By no means is my kid always on his best behavior but he did normal toddler things that apparently are irritating to the Y staff. If kids aren't quietly sitting/playing/on their best behavior then you get called to come pick up your kid. Maybe kids who are older who aren't teething, potty trained and in school should be recommend for child care but anyone younger you will get irritated looks from staff. My little one was teething and putting things in his mouth (most kids do) so I gave him a paci to help with that, he wasn't crying or throwing a fit bit the whine noises apparently aren't okay with the staff so we got called. Every single time I'd go we got irritated tones/looks and in such a hurry to toss my child back to me with deep sighs made us so angry and just disappointed in the center.I would not recommend the child care center based off of the staff and they should definitely look into some new staff members who actually know kids and definitely need to have more patience especially since the max time in the child care center is only 90 minutes they act like they can't even handle half an hour. We ended up putting our membership on hold this is after mainly a month or two of having it and I'm going to try different center with potentially better staff. Would not recommend the delaware Y for families...
Read moreThe YMCA in Delaware is a good place to work out. It has a very nice pool with a lap pool, slide, shallow area for kids, Plus a sauna. The gym upstairs has lots of different kinds of equipment and plenty of machines. The gym downstairs has basketball courts and there is a track for walking or running. The YMCA has lots of classes and community events for kids, teens, and adults. They even have classes and events that are not Fitness related, such as art and leadership. They have nice locker rooms with good showers and even have a family locker room which is very convenient if you have young children. The staff there are helpful. My kids have been involved in the teen leaders program for many years and it is an excellent program. The YMCA also hosts birthday parties or other events by renting out Community rooms. They also have child watch which is free childcare for young kids while you work out. They have discounts available for membership which makes it affordable, although I think the full price is somewhat expensive. I wish they were open more hours on the weekends. During the week they open very early and stay open late a few nights but on the weekends they open later and...
Read moreDO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY HERE. I came to this Y a few years after it opened and cancelled my membership due to lack of cleanliness, lack of availability and unfriendly staff. I signed up again recently hoping a few years of time it would be better and for our children….. I was so wrong. Had my membership for a month and ready to cancel.
The pool and hot tub are readily open, came on three different occasions and the pool/hot tub were closed. One time I got in the hot tub and a minute later the staff comes over to close it.
If you want to play basketball, make sure to check ahead of time. The court are readily open they either have classes or pickleball going on daily and the people that come in to play pickleball DO NOT care if you’re already on the court. They will move the nets on the courts and push you out.
Cleanliness, the lockers rooms (women’s) is absolutely disgusting.
The staff…. Don’t expect much here. Have spoke. To the staff about concerns and they do not have much to offer other than to call ahead. Who wants to do that each time?
Spend your money elsewhere, there is...
