My kids love this place because it’s close to home and they have big water slides. I don’t love this place really. All I could think about the last time I was there was “I wonder how they determined that max capacity is for this pool is this many people,” because it was insane. You could not swim in the pool. It was so crowded, all you could really do is stand around and hope to not get kicked by a kid who’s trying to swim around all these people. Trying not to be bumped into, a ton of screaming in my ear, people hanging out on the stairs to the pool because there’s nowhere else to go - it really feels like a hot mess. Also - I understand safety and all, but you literally can not have any piece of jewelry on if you’re riding the slides. My son couldn’t even wear his goggles 🤦♀️ we go to water parks a lot, and this is the only place with this strict policy. The goggles though, that really blew me away because I’m pretty sure my son was wearing them down the slides last year with no problem.
One new thing I learned this visit is how expensive their little food place is. It’s literally theme park prices in a state park pool. I was shocked when I spent over $60 for 3 chicken tender baskets (with THREE tenders in each), a hot dog, and drinks. I will Never. Eat. There. Again.
I love that this place is here .. but I think they need to do some work on visitor’s experience to make it better for everyone. Even if that means less people can make it on any given day, at least those that do will leave happy and want...
Read moreMy daughter and grandson and i went yesterday. We ordered tickets on line the previous day. It's $8 each and $1.50 service charge. One local public water park is $25. Over 42" and $18 under 42" babies who can't walk free. Another public park is over 42" $38. And under 42" $23. If you are over 60 you cannot ride slides. Everyone pays regardless of age. This is a state park. All Delaware parks charge an entrance fee per car. You can get season passes if you go a lot. I have a lifetime because I am over 65. It cost me $50 and have had it for 10 years. This is not a grand bells and whistles park. It is not hugh but is a decent size. They have strict rules that are posted out side and online. Their staff was very good. The guards are very attentive. Whistles blow a lot. When it's 98° it is a reasonable alternative to cool off. The food is no more expensive than most any other resort eating establishments. You can bring food and eat outside the water area. And come back in without charge. It's state run and they strive to be a safe and reasonable environment for all. If someone were to get harmed by wayward jewelry they would probably get sued. Also if you are under 2 you don't pay. They make you wear swimming clothes only for several reasons, which make it constant for everyone. I found it to be clean and we'll managed. Of course when it's 98° it is going to fill up fast. You have other options if this is not a place you want to go to. But you will not find...
Read moreWater park itself is very nice but management is NASTY. We stood in line in 92 degree weather to get into the park on July 10, 2019. When we got up to the cashier and ordered our 5 tickets we were told that all 5 had to be there and we couldn't buy the 5th ticket (my son-in-law was on his way). The cashier was nasty to my daughter and so I tried explaining to both the cashier and management a little story in hopes the human side of them would prevail......that on July 10, 2018, one year ago, my daughter almost died giving birth to her baby girl and today, July 10, 2019 was not only a celebration of my grand daughter turning one but a celebration of this family of 3 celebrating that they are all together and life is ok. They choose this place to have that celebration, along with about 10 other people. The Manager would not let us buy him a ticket and was very nasty about it. WHY? They were getting the money . We would have to wait for him and then go stand in line yet again and hope that tickets would still be available. On this day - the water park was at capacity and they stopped selling tickets.
Luckily, we were able to get tickets and get in and it was a nice day but if started off bad and it didn't need to. Staff and Management need to be a little nicer and accommodating to...
