Delray Beach Playhouse — Attraction in Delray Beach

This is a review of the November 29, 2024, performance of The Producers at the Delray Playhouse. EXCELLENT! This was a performance that I'll happily remember the rest of my life. The four of us, two couples, have season tickets. At the intermission, we all talked about how great every performer was. Great casting, directing, acting, singing, dancing, and audio. Not one weak actor in this troupe. The other husband said that he saw The Producers on Broadway, and he thought the Delray Playhouse performance was better. The other wife said that this single play was worth the price of the season tickets. My wife loved it, and for the first time in a long time, I was so thoroughly entertained that I felt the intermission came too soon. Don't miss out on seeing this production... if you can get tickets!

February 9, 2024. Grumpy Old Men-The Musical is one of the worst plays my friends, wife, and I have seen. Besides the uninspired songs, a boring storyline, a huge missed que, amateurish dancing, and flubbed lines, even worse, were the painfully off-pitch vocals. About half the cast couldn't carry a tune at all. A few of the female vocals were good, but none were excellent. What was most irritating was that some of the vocalists improved towards the end of the second act, which appears to indicate that these actors have talent but didn't take the time to rehearse. Local community theater in Lake Ida area with a wide variety of live stage performances from theater to musical. The Delray Playhouse has been here since the 1940's. For the last three years we have been buying their annual theater subscription which includes five scheduled shows. It's been about $200 for both of us to see 5 shows each year and it's something we look forward to. The theater is professionally run and intimate. It's great to support the arts and to have such nice entertainment in Delray Beach. This theater has expanded its offerings to include more musical programs and even a children's theater and summer camp. This theater is not fancy but it's comfortable and clean. We've enjoyed ourselves and have started inviting friends to join us. We wish Delray Beach Playhouse many more...
