This is a great place to ride your bike! The trails offer something for all skill levels, and are well maintained. There are 3 trails, blue, red, and green, that can be linked together for about 5.5 miles. The blue trail has a couple short steep climbs, a few quick downhills, some log piles, and maybe a jump. The red trail starts with a small playground with skinnies, a downhill line with dirt berms, a small wooden wall ride, and a table top bridge. There are a couple fast sections throughout the red trail, but the best features are the two drops, 1.5ft and 3ft, near the end of the loop. The green trail is the most technical of the three trails. It starts with a steep drop in, or a more civilized set of switch backs, and continues over the low rolling flood plane. There are lots of chances to carry speed through the winding trail and fast corners. Recently the MMMBA has added some fun jumps and more skinnies over fallen trees. Watch for the log drop, 3ft drop with a tight left at the bottom, about 2/3 of the way through. Give these trails a day or two after a heavy rain and you'll avoid most of the mud. Ride to your abilities and you'll...
Read moreLooks like it was once and could be a 5 star park, but I stopped today with my 8 month old pup and things seem very neglected. The building that was donated to Lansing has weeds growing out of the eavestroughs and looks vacant inside. There isn't much parking, and it looked like Lansing Fire uses it for storage at this point with trailers in the garage. The trails are getting narrow, but it looks like someone cut some of the fallen trees from a bad storm we had a month and a half ago. The part that really gets me is I've taken my dog on plenty of nature walks and never had a problem with ticks. We only took a quick half hour walk and when we got out my dog had 5 ticks on him that I quickly pulled off and I had 3 on my legs. So BEWARE, with pets and yourself! Seems like this park was once great and I liked the trails till we stopped and dealt with the ticks. Someone really needs to clear the gutters before winter, a star off for building/property maintenance and another...
Read moreIt was a great walk. So I'll start at the beginning. The parking area which there are at least two. Google maps will take you to the first one. The ground is just hardened mud so that could be improved. Fits 5 to 6 cars at the first spot. I like one is reserved for emergency vehicles. The trails are mtn bike trails as it is sponsored by a mtn bike group. The trails are well maintained signage is ample but you do have to use common sense when navigating them as bikers have created little loops here and there. I walked the green and blue trails. I'd say moderate difficulty just because of some minor hills but the ground is compacted making for smooth walking. Found wild mushrooms a pleasant surprise and a deadpossum, sad face. I didn't even see bikers until the end of my walk. I loved how the forest was open and trees had been cut for safety. It would be better with biffys at one entrance and even more signage as we the people be dumb...
