BridgeWay Church — Attraction in Denver

CAUTION: I would gently encourage people to use caution and pray for Godly discernment with this church. I am a born again Spirit filled Christian for almost 40 years. There are so many Spirit filled Christians who don’t take time to discern between a New Age spirit and the Holy Spirit. Spirits can masquerade as an angel of light. The real thing, the genuine movement of the actual Spirit of the Living God is priceless and God has given us discernment to detect it. I believe He is working there, but is it always His Spirit at work? Is it possible that undiscerning believers are sometimes accidentally following demon spirits in a service as prophesied in the Bible? The Bible says "do not believe every spirit and test the spirits to see if they are of God." Peter Young used to follow John Wimber's Vineyard in the past. When Wimber gave the Toronto Vineyard the boot and essentially ex-communicated them for allowing demonic manifestations in their services (people crawling on the floor, barking like dogs and other insane actions, calling it the Holy Spirit), I remember that Peter was upset by the church split and I believe that he questioned Wimber’s choice. I was 100% on the side of Wimber. I was concerned that Peter may not have been very discerning at the time. Perhaps he is more discerning now? I don’t know. When I visited Bridgeway more recently, there was a spirit for sure. I was worshipping the Lord with all of my heart but felt something impeding my worship. I kept checking in with the Lord praying for discernment because it was heavy and a little un-settling....was it the Holy Spirit or another spirit? I asked the Lord if Charismatic Witchcraft was occurring there. Usually, when the Holy Spirit touches me during a service, I feel uplifted, loved and full of the Joy of His Presence and have joyful tears. Something feels off here - even though no one was doing anything bizarre. Another thing…..when you attend their services, you are being watched on their video surveillance cameras. I know because I saw the camera room and saw people going in and out of that room. Why? Because I didn't want to be watched during worship, I found a seat that was outside of the camera area. Summary: I believe that Peter Young is a very well intended minister who really seems to love the Lord and has likely done a lot of good, but I have some serious questions about what is seen as "truth" at this church. While I feel the Holy Spirit is there, there may also be either a New Age spirit or Charismatic Witchcraft, but I didn't stay long enough to figure it...

Loved it the spirit of God is really felt in this place. Worship service is the ultimate because the key the holy spirit move as is needed. Every sermon seems to be spoken directly to me. Several times over the last few years I've had people come and speak words i know is directly from God. Even ones that said it was there first time there. The church is directly a vessel that God spirit is dwelling and felt through. My only concern is that in the 3 years I've been attending i know no one but one person. It's seems at times they're clicks within the church. I have asked to speak to someone several times about things that were happening in my life all i got was a phone call from a person in leadership that told me he could tell i was a kind heart and had nothing to do with what i was feeling. I got no more calls or follow-up to check to see if i was alright. I have been homeless for some time and other than on Christmas do i see caring for others, other than people that are known. Maybe God has wanted me to figure this all out on my own. Which I'm thankful and grateful but if we can't take care of our own how can we take care of people in the world? How will they know we care and know the true love of Jesus? Down the road i want everyone to know the true love of Jesus and feel God's warmth and compassion. Even though Jesus had his 12 disciples he reached out to others that no one else would. I think sometimes as Christians we get comfortable with the familiar. I want my light to shine to the whole world not just a chosen few. I love you Bridgeway let's shine so that not just the christians see us but so that the world can see. For God so loved...

The new church leadership has graciously reached to me. I have emailed them and hope they will contact so we can pray for my family together as Christians should. Below is my original review: I have been trying for several months to have a sit down visit with Pastor Peter for several months for a personal matter regarding a relative of mine that is attending there. This relative is having some desperate spiritual problems which have greatly affected all of the family members. Since none of the family can have any contact with this relative I was hoping beyond hope to be able to have Pastor Peter or someone in the church be able to help restore this family member to a family that misses them deeply. I have had my Pastor contact Peter Young many times asking for a private and confidential meeting. I have had family and friends try to call to ask for a private meeting to no avail.I have been a Christian for 35 years and never had been stonewalled from a church in any such manner.
