Overall great park and a beautiful lake. I’ll break my review into categories. “Parking”- plenty of parking spots and lots at this park. I would suggest parking at the first lot to the left of main park direction sign because it’s the biggest. It’s a gravel parking lot. They do have a couple other smaller lots and even roadside parking. I’m impressed with the parking options compared with other dc area parks. “Bathrooms” - it was closed. Maybe due to covid or park policy not sure. Before sure you handle your business before venturing to this park. “Trails” - My friend and I did the main trail closest to the lake for the excellent water view. It was an easy hike on that is 90% dirt trail and the other is concrete/gravel. Plenty of space for people to go in both directions on the trails. “Activities/Other” - I saw a volleyball court, picnic tables, kayaking spot, huge grass field for anything and plenty of park benches to chill and take it all in. I would definitely recommend to go on a hike at this beautiful and peaceful work. It seems to be great for families, dog owners, and really anyone! I’ll be...

I love this park so much! It is family friendly, easy access, and appealing to almost anyone. If you would like to bike/ walk, the Rock Creek trail starts here and goes all the way to DC. If you want a family friendly stroll, the loop around the lake is about two miles. If boating is more up your alley, then the lake has two easily accessed put in points as well as a rental facility. The park easily balances the ease of access, convenient utilities, things to do, and feeling of getting away from your daily life. A wonderful place to relax that I frequent regularly and advise others to...

Feel lucky to have this park near my neighborhood. This place is not necessarily have everything I am asking for, but features public golf course (9 and 18 holes), walking trail, fishing/boating, several picnic areas with barbecue facility, archery area, short trail for mountain biking, as well as 17 miles stretch of paved trail for road bike that are accessed from neighborhood on the way to DC area. Regarding this 17 miles trail, watch out when you cross the local traffic as there is no stop sign...

There is a gravel trail around the lake. The paved trail is of some distance. Mostly shaded and occasional benches for relaxing. There are some very small hills. Runners and bikers fill the early morning. Use caution if your riding a bike. People are wearing earbuds and headsets and don't hear you yell out when passing. I was told you can ride to DC. I stuck to my 10 mile knee rehab out and back regimen.

Lake Needwood is a gem of a spot in Montgomery County. If you avoid the obvious areas, fishing can be awesome. The park itself is great. I've been fishing there for many years and finally decided to try the opposite shoreline and caught these beauties using a new lure called scat cover in green and blue fleck. The bass love it. There's also great crappie fishing here.
