On a Sunday I decided to give this Joe Randazzo's location on Outer Drive in Detroit a try because it is about 3 miles closer to my current apartment than the location on Gratiot in Roseville. Previously I had shopped at the location in Roseville because I was afraid to shop in the city of Detroit...
The streets near the store were not busy. Unlike the traffic on Gratiot in Roseville. The ambiance at this Detroit store was pleasantly mellow. My fellow customers and the employees treated me fine. I didn't get assaulted or bothered....
The selection was about the same as the Roseville location. I thought about buying pear(s) but they looked like they wouldn't last more than one or 2 days. I wasn't sure the cherries I bought were in good enough condition but they were all edible when I got home... I didn't see sweet potatoes except for red yams and I didn't see the exotic red or miniature bananas, but maybe I didn't look carefully enough. Granted, buyer beware, but normally the cost is well worth it, even if half of what you buy on special isn't usable. There are exceptions and you need to be wise when looking over the produce, but in general the specials are pretty decent. I once purchased Artichokes for $0.33 each! They were starting to blemish but the flower was still fine for eating.
I like that they have rotational items, so nearly every time I go there, something different is available.

Read moreI love this store! I have been going to this place since I was little. So many memories coming here with my parents to pick fruits and veggies to buy. When we moved 2 hours up north, we still made the trip down here. The prices here are very affordable, not overpriced. Many people confuse this company with Randazzo Fresh Market which is a completely different company(which is very overpriced)! Thus the confusion in some reviews saying that this store isn't up to par with their "other stores" in the "suburbs" (lol). But anyways, this store is one of the best for affordable grocery shopping in the metro Detroit area. The area is a little sketchy, but at least try it before you cross it off...
