Wyoming Pioneer Memorial Museum — Attraction in Douglas

We were on a road trip to watch UVU vs. Wyoming wrestling match and decided to stop and visit the Wyoming Pioneer Memorial Museum in Douglas. What a hidden gem of a place to learn some of the interesting and often infamous history of Wyoming!! I especially LOVED seeing the antique veterinary tools (my husband is a vet), the switchboard, and reminisced about my college days at California Lutheran University, where I worked as a switchboard operator from 1970-1974. I have been here twice now and I plan on going back yet again sometime in the future. If you are at all interested in learning how early Wyoming settlers lived, this museum will fascinate you. There is also a vast collection of artifacts from Wyoming natives who served in our armed forces - an excellent reminder of what many generations have sacrificed in order to give us our freedoms. This place has a surprisingly large collection of artifacts for the size of this are! Their World War 2 firearm collection even has a 8mm Mauser that I’ve never seen anywhere before. Impressive!

Beyond the war exhibit I really enjoyed the collection of early settlers household items, appliances, and tools. That monster of a fish in the basement on the bar is...
