Apex Computers — Attraction in Downers Grove

After a casual internet browsing session, I shut my laptop down for a few hours and attempted to power up again. Nothing. It turns out that after 9 years of use, the motherboard was shot. I took my machine to Michael at Apex computer and he quickly gave me a diagnosis so close to a major holiday. Michael ordered a new motherboard but also made other suggestions and small changes that I approved. He was very helpful and made my computer repair as painless as possible. I did lose a few programs, which was to be expected, but I was easily able to reinstall them (I would suggest to anybody to keep a list of needed programs written down somewhere). Was 60 bucks just to be told the replacement part would be 600. I looked it up and it was 300 on newegg. I cant say its fair to expect people to pay 60 dollars without giving them any idea of how much the repair would be, which i asked beforehand but he wouldnt answer no matter how i tried to ask it. I was expecting around 300 max, with labor, but if he gave me any idea of costs to repair a touchscreen hinge, then i would not have had to waste the 60. Just the labor itself was going to be 180. The only reason i dont give 2 stars is bc he was nice and friendly and seems to be trying. But i suggest you at least do your own research on replacement parts before paying whatever...

Took a DOA older HP desktop in to see what could be done. 2 days later picked it up with a new hard drive installed and all data intact! Michael is an extremely nice, courteous and proficient computer technician! He calls to explain the problem and give you the estimate of cost and time to repair. Here is where I would normally put that we would be happy to recommend him & use his service in the future however that would be redundant as the moment we returned home our laptop died and is there right now!
