We camped in the campground which is free right now (early june). Trail is incredible!!! we went about 5 miles out to three forks area by the base of squaretop. Everything about this place is magical! We saw moose and the lushness of the area is impressive for wyoming! Only thing bad is the road 21 miles of extreme pitted out 4x4 level clearance. we made it there in a regular car but our skid plate and a few plactic parts broke off of our crv because there are areas of the road with zero passability meaning you gotta go over boulders and streams and all sorts of crazy stuff. took us 2.5 hours both ways to go down the 21 mile offroad road leading to the campground...

It is a beautiful hike. I hiked out on the Highline Trail and back on the Lakeside Trail. If I hike it again, I will go out and back on the Highline Trail. I had a moose come out below my trail and go into the lake. She swan the 0.4-mile distance across the lake. I also had a cute doe hang out with me. I took an ice plunge in the Upper Green Lake. A...

In early June, it was a slow drive in across the dirt road to get to the trail head, but once in is a great experience. We backpacked in a couple of miles for our first camp. Did NOT use the campground. Spent a week backpacking before the rangers cleared the paths. Counted over 100 trees across the marked paths. Great experience off trail to bypass downed trees. Experienced 1 foot of snow and used game trails to come down mountains. Highly recommend early season experience if you want a...
