Brighton Beach — Attraction in Duluth

Name
Brighton Beach
Description
Also known as "Little Odessa" due its tight-knit Russian and Eastern European communities, Brooklyn's Brighton Beach is a lively neighborhood with many high-rise residential buildings. Traditional ethnic restaurants and food markets line Brighton Beach Avenue. The beach and boardwalk here are more laid-back than nearby Coney Island, catering largely to locals. Splashy nightclubs attract partiers in the evenings.

One of my favorite places near Duluth to sit by the lake, and look at cool rocks.

FYI Google maps was incorrect (July 2025). The road to Brighton Beach is now a one way. Google maps takes you to the end where you cannot turn right. There's different spots you can walk down to the beach from the paved parking lot. There are bathrooms at the beginning and the end. But we parked in the middle ( less busy ).

The water was pretty calm. Our kids went swimming close to shore, but I only waded. Too cold for me. Just a heads up the rocks with green ( algae?) are very slippery!

I would recommend water shoes or sandals that can get wet. Easier to walk on the...

Not rv friendly at all. Very narrow road and the turn in is bad for rv but otherwise fabulous and beautiful. Had to go up the road a bit to a pull off for the rv but still got to the water. I’ve never seen a lake this big. So big you can’t see the other side. So peaceful. I met a guy who was looking for rocks with a black light. Apparently it’s a thing. A special kind of rock that glows with a black light. His accent was a bit thick lol and we shared the same name. I hope you found what you were looking for. I want...

Awesome place to hang out along the shore of Lake Superior.

I like to get here just before sunrise (with my camera in hand of course) and relax along the shore listening to the sounds of nature. There are usually some birds flying around, and the sound of the water hitting the rocks is always peaceful too.

Whenever I head up to this area I grab a big cup of coffee and head right for the shore for a Lake Superior sunrise. It's the perfect way to start a day filled with photo fun...
