We stumbled upon Kitchi Gammi Park while looking for a quick rest stop during a drive and wow, it turned out to be such a lovely surprise! The park is super well-maintained with plenty of benches and picnic tables, making it ideal for a calm break or even a full-on picnic. It’s also really kid-friendly, with swings and open space for little ones to run around.
What I really appreciated was the peaceful atmosphere. It wasn’t too noisy, even with families around it just had this relaxed, refreshing vibe that instantly made us feel more grounded. It felt like one of those spots you randomly find and end up remembering for a long time.
We found out later that it’s actually known as one of the best sunrise spots in the area! Definitely bookmarking it for an early morning visit sometime soon. I can only imagine how stunning it must be with that lakeside view and the quiet stillness of dawn.
The only downside? The bathrooms were honestly a letdown. Not the cleanest, and definitely could use some upkeep. That part was a bit disappointing, especially for a park that otherwise felt so inviting and thoughtfully designed.
Still, if you’re passing through or even planning a little nature moment, I’d say Kitchi Gammi Park is a hidden gem worth the stop. Just maybe bring your own hand sanitizer and some...
Read moreGreat place for a family walk along the NS after a picnic . Large Rocky beach - great for agate hunting &/or for a 🥶 dip with your 🐕 - which parallels the paved walking/biking trail that you take from your parking spot along Theside main road. There are tables, grills and a large covered Pavillion - this is about at the midpoint of this section of brach - distance from off road parking is nominal and carrying your picnic shouldn't be a bother. There were a few remains of small bonfires in rocks - looks like great setting for a sunset fire - make sure to check if it's ok first, as I haven't a clue!
Id give this place 10 stars! However. . We were there on a Sunday afnoon the first "official weekend of summer" & other than a dozen dog walkers, there were a pleasant lack of other humans observed, lol.
Great for.. . . . Easy in/out Picnic tables/grill Swingset Swimming Agates Dog friedly Star/aurora*sunrise/set viewing Making out with someone cute And Peeing yourself, lol.
Put it on your NS Drive list!...
Read moreReally nice since they remade the park. But it is really not easy for people that are handycap. The park itself is nice but if your in a wheelchair or have problems walking you really cant get down to the lake anymore. The way the road was done. It could of had way more thought into it. There is only a few handycap parking spots and it does not let people that have to load and unload the chair room to do so... over all really nice place but it could of been done alot better. Nice view of the lake and ships that go in and out. Really nice view of the Arial lift bridge.i am really happy that they kept the landmark building that have been there for along time. Over all...
