Ah, Lester Park and Playground, nestled in the picturesque Lakeside neighborhood of Duluth, Minnesota. This veritable oasis of greenery and good times offers a breath of fresh air - both literally and figuratively - to visitors of all ages. It's the perfect place to let your inner child run free, all while basking in the glorious Northwoods ambiance.

Lester Park is so much more than just your average city park – it's a cornucopia of delights for outdoor enthusiasts and playground aficionados alike. Gaze upon the vibrant jungle gym, a structure seemingly engineered by a team of NASA scientists and world-class jungle gym architects. With slides that defy gravity, monkey bars that invite acrobatic exploits, and swings that soar through the skies like a symphony of synchronized swans, the playground guarantees hours of laughter, joy, and memory-making.

Yet, it's not all child's play at Lester Park. No, dear reader, this recreational haven also boasts a veritable buffet of activities to satisfy the more mature palate. With idyllic trails winding through the lush landscape, hiking enthusiasts will find themselves immersed in a peaceful trek through the great outdoors. And for the avid disc golfer, the park's challenging 18-hole course serves up a perfect blend of recreation and friendly competition, all set against the backdrop of Duluth's enchanting Northwoods.

But wait, there's more! As if nature's splendor and unparalleled playtime options weren't enough, Lester Park also offers a series of picturesque picnic spots. There's truly no better way to cap off a day of outdoor fun than by spreading out a blanket, unpacking a delectable lunch, and soaking in the sights and sounds of this northern paradise.

Lester Park and Playground is, without a doubt, a testament to Duluth's commitment to community and outdoor living. So the next time you find yourself yearning for a day filled with laughter, nature, and memories that will last a lifetime, set your GPS for Lakeside's crowning jewel – and don't forget to...

Come on in, the water is fine. Really, the water was plenty warm enough to swim for a bit this warm July day. Too far to swim across to Wisconsin though, so be careful!

It is true, respect the big lake, it has kept its dead for eons. Many locals will not go in casually. There are possibilities to consider, like rip currents (when the weather is just right) along the largest freshwater sand beach in the world, just a few miles from Lester River. Also, hypothermia is a possibility most of the year due to the normally cold temps.

Be smart, check local media first to see if conditions warrant you surfing the big waves...

Lester Park is a premier example of the natural beauty and easy access to outdoor adventures that earned Duluth the distinction of "Best Outdoors Town in America" during Outside Magazines annual contest in 2014. Lester is a great place for picnics, walking the dog, graduation parties and pictures, and weddings. Lester has world class mountain biking trails and miles of groomed and lighted cross-country ski trails as well as access to the state snowmobile trail. The gazebo can be rented for private events through the Duluth Parks and...

Lester Park provides walking and biking paths all seasons. It's a easy short hike to a nice Waterfall with a large ledge to view from or if the river is low you view from below. It has a playground for younger kids. There's a big Pavillion usually used for birthday parties. Its quiet and spacious. Parking lot fills fast but there's plenty of side spots. Amazing location for fall colors too! Porta potties are located in the entry parking lot.

Very nice park! We enjoyed the walk through the park. It was a little bit difficult to find the falls unless your a local. Needs better markings. If you drive up occidental road that runs a long side the park you will find the deep water falls. I under stand the falls are better to view in the spring when there is rain. There are deep pockets of water. It was a great hike, and I enjoyed taking pictures.

Very nice fun waterfall that had made memories with me and my family (and cousins.) I saw some divers jumping from the very top which scared me a lot but that's okay, they knew what they were doing. There were plenty of people without masks but what are ya gonna do, swim with a mask on? I would definitely go back if I had the chance. Just don't slip on the rocks and you'll be okay.
