Very disappointed with our visit.
Both the full size train ride and the small miniature train ride were broken the day we visited. Apparently that's good for a $3/person discount.
There is a lot of railroad memorabilia on display, and those displays are in fairly good shape.
Unfortunately a lot of the larger rolling stock on display is in bad shape. Many of the train cars are not accessible, and the ones that were had floors that did not feel safe or solid in places.
Quite a few of the city busses that were supposed to be viewable were locked and inaccessible.
There is a large selection of various older box cars, cranes and other other items parked along the side of the buildings.
Unfortunately none of those have any signs explaining what they are, or how they were used. And the majority of them look like they belong in a junkyard. (Rusty, broken windows, broken wood, etc).
There are some cool items here. The old steam train and some of the taxis were pretty cool. But those few items didn't make up for the overall feeling of disappointment we had in what was on display.

Read moreBE CAREFUL if you dress nicely and want to take pictures other than casual selfie or equipments. The website was vague about the photography policy and my friend and I had a bad experience. We were asked about photography upon entry, and since we just want to take photos for our own album, NOT COMMERCIALLY, they let us in. But once we start taking photos, we were escorted out and the guy in the ticket office straight up accused us of lying to him. After explanation, I get where they come from as they want to charge extra for professional photography, but the line between personal and professional is very vague. It was particularly frustrating for us as we felt distrusted and did not appreciate how they treated us. None of us are professional model or photographer, and have been paid $0 for photos in our entire life.
Anyways, everyone was doing there job. Just that we would have appreciated a better attitude and a clearer explanation upfront. No one likes being called a LIAR. That’s it. I guess the museum...
Read moreWe absolutely love this place! There is so much to see (all things transportation, not just trains) and historic trains and buses to walk on and explore. A favorite of ours is the awesome model train and we also like to bring a lunch to eat on one of their many picnic benches. There are also 2 train rides (one is included in your ticket w the option to purchase more). There’s a smaller miniature train ride and a larger “real size” train. If you do the larger one, we like to sit in the blue caboose car bc they back up to the workshop and the workers let you stand in the very back of the train! Everyone here is so friendly and knowledgeable! The workers are primarily volunteer based, so they all want to be there and love it. Our family of 6 loves coming here so much we got a membership. The only downside is that they are not open every day! We highly recommend this place to all, but especially...
