W.R. Bagley Nature Area — Attraction in Duluth

Bagley Nature Area hosts a wide variety of trails on 100 plus acres of nature preserve. The Duluth Traverse crosses the tract, providing mountain biking and walking. There is a woodchipped 2 mile hiking and classic skiing trail. The Superior Hiking Trail also crosses through and passes by a small campground within the Nature Area.

Springs feed a small impoundment pond, providing a space for canoeing. The top of an old ski hill offers a great lookout of UMD and Lake Superior. The forest here is a mix of maple, oak and evergreens with excellent fall colors and a few towering white pines.

Bagley is a wonderful area for a quiet picnic in a peaceful setting. There are nicely maintained hiking/walking trails some of which make up part of the Superior Hiking Trail. Absolutely beautiful! Only wheelchair accessable in the first bit and the rest is best for able-bodied people due to inclines, tree roots, rocks, and stairs. The ducks are used to people at the pond and won't go far when you visit so it's very enjoyable to sit and watch.
