( please read everything, and understand )I came in with my family for breakfast around 10 am. It wasn't busy and there was no line, perfect. My family ordered our food and our coffee excited to start our morning with some good food. It took at least 10 mins for them to ring up our order and 3 workers had to come step in to correct our order. I personally ordered a medium turtle mocha and a blueberry lemon scone, they looked delish. The scone was dry, the lemon frosting was good though. The scone was so dry that when I touched it it crumbled and fell apart. I asked them when the scone was made and the woman behind the counter said "those scones were made yesterday, well... Technically they were made today" so I returned the scone and got the bagel instead and it was very good. When I got my turtle mocha I tasted it and it had no flavoring at all. My sister also ordered a turtle mocha and hers tasted very good, just like you'd expect a turtle to taste. So I went back and told them that I think they gave me a regular mocha by mistake. And the workers told me (without even tasting it) "no that's a turtle, the syrup is in there. It's not gonna be sweet like a Starbucks" so I told them my sister ordered a turtle too and it tasted nothing like what she had. So they just put chocolate in my coffee, stirred it, and gave it back. I'm sure that the this place is wonderful. But my experience was less than...
Read moreFood and coffee are fine and what you would expect at a standard coffee shop. However, we ordered ahead online as we were heading out of town, but still had to wait in a line of people. Once we finally reached the register, they only then opened our ticket and started to prepare food and drink. We grabbed our food over 25 minutes after the estimated pickup time.
Curious what the point is of ordering online if you have to go through the same process as those who walk in the door to order?
Wish we would’ve gone to Caribou across the street. Would have saved us 25-30 minutes.
Edited after owner’s response: I am truly taken aback by the owner’s very off-putting response. I am in no way upset at the fact that I may need to wait for food. I simply wanted to express that the online ordering system did not make sense to me. Why order online if you have to then go inside, wait in line, and not have your ticket processed until you arrive at the register? If I would have known this ahead of time, I would have stopped elsewhere due to the fact I was headed out of town. I hope they take this feedback and are able to set expectations for their online customers.
Edit #2: it appears the owner has since changed some strong verbiage on their response, which I appreciate. However, we love supporting local businesses and their original response really...
Read moreThis is a hidden gem in the Kenwood Shopping Center! Perk Place has a very unassuming appearance from the outside, but once you open the door you're greeted with a waft of baked goods, the aroma of coffee and people enjoying each other's company. There is a fireplace in the front, but sadly it was not operating eventhough it was -4° outside. The interior has muted lighting and colors and a good amount of tables to enjoy the fare. This is definitely a gathering spot for people, they stay awhile. We ordered a Lighthouse Latte which was the BEST coffee I've ever had, and I've had coffee in Europe. The Ham, cheese and bacon panini was over-priced in my opinion for what you get, but it was very good. We also had the grilled cheese and tomato soup, which was a small serving for the price. The soup however was fantastic! Lots of herbs and cream and it tasted homemade. The grilled cheese was just ok. The cookies and cream Frappuccino was excellent. Service was fast and courteous and there was plenty of room between the tables for my wheelchair. This is the kind of place you want to come back to and try everything on the menu. We can't wait to go back and try some of the...
