A very nice park to find in a rather populated area. You can walk a variety of paths that are very natural, dirt or shell, and many under the shade of old trees.
There are clean facilities, picnic pavilions and a mix of upland, and lowland areas. We tend to type nature parks and this is a bit more utilized for neighborhood walkers and such, but still a nice spot to get out under some trees, see a few animals ( several tortoises and rabbits). There are a few canals through the park and we spotted ducks and ducklings and you could see schools of mullet. I always enjoy seeing some type of water when visiting a park, adds a little intrigue.
There is also a boardwalk area that goes over a saltwater marsh area where we spotted many fiddler crabs and a few types of birds.
There is a Frisbee course that there were several were making use of. That was fun to just watch for a bit.
Covering all the trails and loops we were able to walk 5 miles which was a goal and we were mainly under shade, had clean restrooms available. If you go I recommend looking for the small butterfly garden if you like that sort of thing and check out the old church built in 1888 that was moved to this property and restored. (these two things are right next to one another near one of the entrances.) Between all these things it is easy to make this a nice afternoon on a good...
Read moreCurb your dog please. We've lived in Dunedin over 30 years now and have been going to hammock for just as long for walks and all of our dogs. It's such a great place for nature and hikes on foot or biking. Over the years, the city has made the park more accessible and better for all. You can be there and not see people at all. Lots of shaded trees and walkways that are elevated over water or mud. Great place to see small animals and lots of birds. Our dogs are always super excited to go there and always love going on the walks or playing. My only complaint is that it's not a poop area for dogs and irresponsible owners. Clean up your dogs. We've seen people show up and let their dogs run without leash and let the dog poop and then never clean up after them. Especially, people out in golf carts, I was there just this week and I asked if they could put dog on leash and they said it's a leash free park, it's not. They are hours from 7 to 9 am and 4 to 6 pm, dogs can run. Their dog ran off cart and did his business and they just left. Like I said, the park is beautiful and hopefully, it'll...
