Pistachio Ice Cream — Attraction in Durham

When I first saw this place I thought there was no way an ice cream place had a 5 star rating with over 100 reviews. It's nice to be wrong.

If you ever grew up near a small local ice cream shop that's totally the vibe. The space is great with plenty of room for kids and pets to play. Lots of unique spots for groups to talk without overlap. The best part is that it wasn't in a strip mall, and parking was plentiful. I love the whole look and feel.

The service was out of this world. I didn't realize it at the time, but the person serving me was the owner. He was energetic, knowledgeable and proud of what he'd built. Since we had some trouble deciding he suggested getting a scoop of each and put two wafers between them.

I've eaten my fair share of ice cream. All of their flavors, and I mean all of them, are up there in quality and taste. I know this because after we finished I went back in to try every other flavor offering to pay. The guy behind the counter just smiled and offered me each flavor one at a time explaining what each was.

Right before I left, I asked if they were employees or owners and he perked right up saying he was the owner.

I strongly suggest you visit this place before he explodes...

I am such a big fan of Pistachio ice cream. Nicest staff ever and the location is incredible. There is free wifi and very dog-friendly (one of the most dog-friendly places I've ever been and they offer pup cups!). You can tell this place has meticulously been thought out and planned to be a community gathering space and offer something special to Durham. One visit and I know I'm a repeat customer for life! The ginger rosewater is to die for and the quality of the ice cream is incredible. They get it from one of the most famous Persian ice cream places in LA and you can tell that these recipes have been perfected over decades. It's the best ice cream I've ever had in North Carolina. Also the unlimited sample policy is very real. There is no shame about it, so you can try everything to find your favorite flavor. They also have cherry and lemon syrup on every table to top your ice cream with and free wafers (and Valentine's chocolate!) today. The coffee is made with local beans from Cocoa Cinnamon and amazing! It's the cheapest latte I've had in Durham and so good. Pistachio is a family-owned small business and one worth supporting!...

We were disappointed by the service. Despite being told by the person who served our ice cream that we can pay for the 2 scoop option (which is cheaper than 2 separate scoops) if we got faloodeh in a separate cup than our ice cream, the person who was checking us out told us that was not possible as we were about to pay and that we had to pay for 2 separate scoops (over $12). It is very common for us Persians to add lime juice to faloodeh so it is reasonable request to ask for faloodeh in a separate cup than ice cream. We were disappointed that they did not have flexibility with our order despite the person who had served our ice cream telling us otherwise and we clearly communicated that with the cashier. It was definitely a miss in terms of good...
