We enjoyed our time at the Sea Pirate. We reserved a full hook-up pull-through site for our RV. The site was neatly maintained with adequate space. We didn't realize that you are not permitted to bring your own golf cart...so we had ours with us. A staff member informed us that we couldn't use it, and we ended up renting one for a day because I had a foot injury and couldn't really make the walk to the pool area. The pool is gorgeous! It was very clean and the water was warm. We reserved a cabana for the day, which was very nice...but, every time the wind blew a large gust, it tripped the outlet and we lost power to the ceiling fan, TV, and fridge. We didn't mind though, because we weren't there to watch the TV! There are other activities to do, such as games, crafts, fishing in the stocked lake, etc. However, we just went to hang by the pool and by our campfire for the weekend, so we didn't participate in those activities...maybe we will during our next visit!

I will start with the positive. The cabin we stayed in appeared to be new and was very nice. It was much more spacious than I thought it would be based on the pictures on the website and the air conditioning is freezing cold. Now the negative
. This was our first time staying at Sea Pirate and I expected it to be very clean based on the reviews. Maybe I have a different standard than other people, but our cabin was filthy. It appeared that the only thing they did was put clean trash bags in cans, leave toilet paper and paper towels and change the mattress pads on the main beds. Good think I brought Lysol wipes!! I spent the first 45 mins of our trip cleaning. The kitchen cabinets that had filth dripping down them, the fridge/freezer that had crumbs and gunk caked on the shelves, the bedrooms has dust and dirt on the dressers and the table and chairs in the main area were not even wiped off. The floors were not swept or mopped. There was a broom and a swiffer, so I had to sweep, but I didn’t swiffer because I have a dog who licks his paws. The picture of the paper towel is from the dirt on the floor. The baseboards looked as if they have never been wiped or vaccines, just caked with dust and dirt. When I went in to the bathroom, I wanted to vomit. The toilet was filthy inside and out, there was hair and old soap all over the shower and sink. The cloth shower curtain was filthy at the bottom. I hate to complain because I don’t like confrontation, but I finally called the front office, told them that the cabin did not look as though it had been cleaned and nicely asked if they could send someone out to clean the bathroom because I didn’t come equipt to clean that. They sent the manager to clean and he apologized. He told me he used bleach to clean, but I smelled nothing and heard no scrubbing or water in the shower. He brought us two bundles of wood and two fire starters for the inconvenience. I didn’t think to take pictures from the start, but I wish I did. That night I realized that the deadbolt would not lock. I notified them the next day and they sent someone right out. Apparently there was a trick to get it to lock. On the third night, my husband and other son came and we had to use that pull out bed. When we pulled it out, it was dirty, (sand, pieces of dirt) on the mattress pad and even on the plastic mattress cover, so it was obvious that hadn’t been changed from the previous guests. My husband went up to the office and asked for a new one and they didn’t seem concerned that it was never changed. The man who brought it over seemed very bothered that he had to come out close to closing time. If they had cleaned properly in the first place, we wouldn’t have had to keep bothering them. I’m today’s world with Covid, Monkeypox, and the other virus that are circulating, you would think that cleaning and sanitizing their cabins between guests would be top priority and that they would be following a very strict protocol, but they did not with our cabin. The campground itself is pretty standard. They have activities, but they are geared mostly to young children. The paint in the pool is peeling, but the water was nicely heated. The drive to LBI is anywhere between 20-45 mins depending on traffic and which part of the island you want to visit which was a bit of a hassle everyday. We were really hoping this would become a yearly vacation spot, but after our experience, we don’t plan on...

This was our family's second time here, and more than likely will be our last. Our AC unit was barely able to keep the tiny 2 room cabin cool during the day, it really only worked at night. Most of the showers do not have hot water, have to play musical chairs to find one that works. These are issues that have been noted by other guests in these reviews and the ownership doesn't do anything about it other than say "did you bring it to our attention?"

Sorry, how many times does an issue need to be brought to you by how many guests before it gets resolved. We had similar issues 2 years ago when we were here as well. Locks that don't lock on bathroom stalls. Broken arcade machines with no signs on them, broken arcade machine still broken from 2 years ago. It seems like basic maintenance is not often performed here. This was just amenities. They also try to nickle and dime you for every possible thing. There are daily "events" for the guests/kids...that you have to pay for to participate in. We just spent hundreds of dollars to stay here and you still try to charge my kid 25 dollars for a t shirt to tye dye? Seriously? Snack bar was also overpriced, 10 bucks for a basic cheeseburger? How about the actual ground and staff? I don't really know how else to say it but there wasn't a single person of color on the staff, or guests during our 4 day stay here. Country music was played non stop, and not even good country, its all the modern overly modulated production making everything sound like robot cowboys. Severely grating.

During our checkout there were 4 women behind the counter who were talking poorly about a prior guest who had complained. They all got very snippy when we voiced our concerns about our stay and just gave the usual snotty "did you bring it to our attention or???" Again, old lady, how many complaints do you need before you rectify the issues multiple guests have had? I would bet money they talked bad about us as soon as we left as well. The 4 women were also talking poorly about the Hispanic delivery man outside of the office right in front of me and my son. "Is he drunk? Is he just gonna stare at the building or come in?" It was noon and this guy is just trying to do his job, not have 4 gross old women trash talk behind his back. Just disgusting behavior from what I can only assume is one of the owners, no other reason for a 60-70 year old to be behind the counter trashing customers.

The entire vibe or this place is really starting to give off racial issues, between no people of color, the constant country music, the American flags plastered everywhere while our country is being eaten alive by fascists...kind of seems like they definitely have a target audience. We had an ok time our first time here but this second experience was not at all what we were hoping for.

At least the spa/heated pool worked this time, both were down our...

By lord where do I even start with this place. Absolutely horrendous place. First off I was ready to write this review on day one, but I knew it was just going to get worse as the week went on. Staff is amazingly rude, they all had a very large attitude and didnt help one bit. Receptionist was rude the moment we stepped on the property, store clerks were agitated that we were there, food staff didnt follow proper procedures, and most of all, renters are treated like lesser guest then full timers. This is to be expected in the day and age we live in, but this place takes it to an alarming degree. I was here for a week and rented an overpriced golf cart. Thought it would be fun to drive around the campsite. You have to be 21 to drive the cart and cant drive it around past 8. Are you kidding me, a liscenced 16 year old cant drive a dinky golf cart that has trouble going 10 mph. Not to mention the fact you cant drive past 8 when full timers are blasting music throughout the campsite at 2 am... are you kidding me. Some more things that added to the "experience", cabins are not cleaned... we walked in to cobwebs, stained mattress, and unvacumed floors. My feet were covered in dirt and sand from day one. Also theres no hot... or even remotely warm water... oh and di I have to mention that the cabin was so poorly made I bought a tent at walmart to get out. The cabin has an air con but what's the point when I can see holes and cracks that go straight outside... and the ac isnt even the worst part. I can live with being hot, I can live with the insesent barrage of mosquitoes and biting flies coming in and tearing up every inch of my body. I practically bathed in bug repellent just to stay alive. Another thing.. the entire camp store is so absurdly overpriced. A small bottle of bug spray that lasted 2 days cost 10 whole smackers... now let's go to the pool, I'm a lifeguard ok.. have been for years now. I know what my brother can handle, and I wasnt breaking any rules because I specifically went up to the rule board and found no age limit for there pathetic diving board. When my boy went up there and jumped off he came up immediately, bobbed, and resurfaced with no issues. However he was warned and told not to do it again. You cant just make up rules on the spot at a no in guard lifeguard pool, that doesnt specify age or swimming ability in order to use the board. Cabin tv remote didnt have battery in it and when we asked the front desk we were told they didnt have any and we had to go buy some. There was an bounce pad that looked pretty cool... you know if it was ever open.. listen I know there are less expensive places near LBI that wont treat you like another brick in the wall. This poll ace was vile and I am so glad I will never have to step foot on the property again. Please dont come here....
