If you enjoy driving over the East Haddam swing bridge, you'll enjoy learning the history of it even more! Stop in to see amazing photographs of the bridge under construction and learn how it ended up crossing the Connecticut River and it's current location. There are lots of displays and artifacts that tell the history of this region, far more than you can see in an hour. Like most museums, the East Haddam Historical Society Museum is a work in progress. Check out the amazing display of American sculptor Heinz Warneke, whose work is featured in the National Cathedral in Washington, DC!

Full disclosure-I have been a docent here. I am delighted to say that it has been improved since 2021 and it is fantastic. Open weekends from 12 to 4 or by appointment. It really is beautiful.
