Spent the day at ikea, everyone their was so nice, we loved it. I loved that they just opened their Smaland Playground. This helped me so much while I was at customer service and my toddler got to play with other kids. If your needing some room inspiration and wanna get out the house, ikea really was the place to go! #bayareamoms #toddlermom #ikea #smalandikea #paloalto #bayareaplayground #playgroundadventures #toddlerfun #safeplayground #girlmom

I’ve always enjoyed shopping at IKEA, but my recent experiences at the Palo Alto location have been disappointing due to serious health code violations that management refuses to address. On two separate visits, I witnessed customers placing their dogs inside shopping carts (unleashed both times) and carting them around the store—including in the dining area where food is served. When I brought this to the attention of store management on both occasions, had detailed conversations with them about how these are, by definition of their status in the carts, NOT service dogs. They dismissed my concerns, claiming they wouldn't take action. However, what I witnessed and documented directly violates California Health and Safety Code Section 114259.5, which prohibits live animals in food establishments, except for service animals. Since management refused to intervene, I have reported this issue to the Santa Clara County Department of Environmental Health and provided photographic evidence of both instances. I sincerely hope IKEA takes this matter seriously and enforces basic health and safety standards for the well-being of all customers. Until this issue is addressed, I would not recommend dining here or using their carts without sanitizing them thoroughly. IKEA needs to do better.

Furniture for kids, good price point and quality is good enough. Don't know why Ikea gets a bad rap on quality. Kids easily out grow the furniture before the furniture breaks. A desk is a good example..have never seen a desk wear out. My Ikea desk is over 10 years old, no signs of breaking. My favorite treat going to Ikea are the marinated salmon with salad greens and the meatballs. Chocolate cake is surprisingly good. And with the Ikea Family card, you get a free coffee too. What's not to like? My only question is why Ikea can't seem to make cute stuffed animals, they always look a little odd. Maybe it's a Swedish thing. The formula for cute is pretty simple .. big eyes and chubby face and round..... simple....just think of a chubby baby. Got it Ikea? Drop me a line, I'll do some consulting work in exchange for meatballs + coffee. 😎 (2022 June 10 Update): Frozen Swedish meatballs are back in stock! Stock up while you can!!! Forget microchips, we need an Ikea meatball factory in the USA. Congress, I'm looking at you. Stuffed animals are getting closer to the threshold of "cuteness". The husky is so close to being cute. The snake is still creepy....I guess maybe its popular among Harry Potter fans?

Updated December 3, 2020: their cafe works again! Original: have you ever bought their chewable candies at the grocery store? You should, as it's delicious and they looks cool (try these purple and pink little scones with blueberry and strawberry flavor and taste - they are delicious!). IKEA restaurant has breakfast menu. They serve breakfast from 8:30 (or 9:30)am till 11:30am - scrambled eggs, breakfast sausage, bacon, potato fries, crepes with strawberry jam, cinnamon rolls. Eggs, sausage and bacon and strawberry jam - yummy, but crepes and buns - tasteless. I recommend to come on weekdays to not to spend 20 minutes staying in line. About the store: it's regular IKEA US. We often goes here for Thursday family dinner, as they have simple comfort meal and we will continue to go there as much as our kids will love their food (we, as parents, approve meatballs, mashed potatoes, gravy and lingonberry sause). In IKEA store we like kitchen showrooms, lighting section, but they definitely need to increase plants section (they mostly have faux-plants, and have a little of living plants).
