This place was a little gem!

My son is 3.5 with ASD and this place while small, was perfect for him! It was not overwhelming with kids people and things.

We came on Memorial Day weekend, Sunday, around 230pm and they close at 4. There were only 2 other families in the museum.

Main floor had a section for train (3 large tables) which my son instantly was attracted to and played with most of the time. There was a fire truck, a pirate ship, and space shuttle, all with either interactive activities or costumes that go with the theme. The first floor also had a golf ball run similar to a marble run but it was very short. Don't forget to go in the cubby under the stairs next to the pirate ship, it's pretty cool! Didn't see it until right before we left! Bottom floor had bathrooms and a large hall with tables and seating I assume for crafting, as well as other crafting areas, a Lego and dino area. I didn't get to check it out we only used the restroom. It was not super clean but it did have a large counter to change you child with a generous soft vinal pad to lay your child on while changing. I hate wall changers and I was so happy to see my son could be changed in comfort and not hanging on for dear life on a hard surface that is skeptical! Just give it a wipe down as we all know!

2nd floor had restrooms too, though I didn't check it out. There are 4 themed rooms. One had interactive game play with a game projected onto the floor the kids can stomp on the images. Another room was a camp room. I loved it but my son wasn't interested - a tent with a lantern, a boat, a fishing area, bird sounds, campfire. 3rd room seemed sensory based. Didn't spend much time in there either. Lastly the occupation themed room - kitchen, vet, doctor, mailbox, construction.... my son was attracted to the kitchen set. There are little bags for items if your child puts it in their mouth.

Only downside is that the place was very hot. No AC on and one thermostat read 79° and it was a hot day putside. Kids running around get hot easily so the AC being on would be ideal.

Also, they close at 4 and they closed the downstairs room at 3pm ish and the upstairs room at 330pm. The employees, all young girls either high school or young college students. They seemed in a rush to close up and leave by 330. Leaving me to feel unwanted and needing to leave earlier than I wanted. My son has sensory issues and when we left had a total melt down. I parked out front by the wild life sign and within 90 seconds the employees were locked up and outside. They were on the phone or not even really paying attention much. I asked a question 2x before she even realized I was next to the counter asking her. She was looking down at something.

I would come back if I was in the area. It was a nice place to visit and I wish more towns had places like these!
