Fun place to be good for relaxing, catching sun, hanging out with friends and of course fishing. Youll find yourself amazed by the view if the chippewa river, along with good atmospheric vibes, occasional photo shoots and smells from bith downtown restaurants and from trucks at the farmers market. Although pheonix park has plenty of to see and do in the day, nighttime brings about more great wonders. Such as the ever changing lights that shine over both the bridges that connect pheonix park to downtown ec. Its also taken a step further implementing decorations along the trees, appropriate to the celebratory holiday. Take a picture, take a walk, or take someone special but dont take a pass on this pheonix park. Although there are so many plus sides to pheonix park there are cons that must be addressed as an honest reviewer and a resident of eau claire who oftens places such as pheonix park i will say, daytime is much different than night and if you do stay late enough unfortunately the atmosphere changes from happy and energetic to quite ambiguous, during the nighttime it isnt quite the family friendly place youd imagine it would be, profanity, shouting, and even homeless will wonder the night keeping you a little on edge definitely not for the faint of heart or easily offended. If you do want to go at night i recommend you to not go out too late. Although ive never been in any serious situations i have been in 2 situations i felt the need to call law inforcement. Eau claire is a good city however we do have homelessness and loitering/rowdiness although i dont look down upon anyone, it is a problem that eau claire needs to address. We seem to be expanding however with bigger city constructs there will be more future problems Eau claire needs to address. Pheonix park is a great place to be and i feel is one of eau claires points of interest. We should feel safe there regardless of day or night. All in all its definitely worth the stop come check it out and all the things it...
Read moreCool spot to walk around at. I usually get some ice cream with the baby boy and his momma then go walk around. The boy loves to explore and the other half and I enjoy the walk and break away from our crazy infant son. The river is highlighted nicely through the whole park with access to the water at one end. There are always events going on so ya have to pay attention to what's scheduled or just go there when you drive by and see something happening and people gathering. Day or night it's a neat place to go for a walk, put a pole in the water and see what's biting, or wade in the water and watch the tubers putting in and float down the river. Night time features the colored lights on the bridges and the quietness of a mostly empty park. Free wifi and the bathrooms are usually as clean as youd hope for a public park. All around good place to come for the farmers market and other local events and gatherings, to go for a walk at, or to just find a place to sit down to relax and people watch. There's been known to be some interesting people coming and going, if you're a social person you're guaranteed to meet someone new if you are open to it. But my advice would be to either keep walking and exploring if you've never been to the park as its alot of easy to overlook spots or find a nice area in the shade or even one of the big rocks to get comfy and watch the river or read a book. I always bring some music to listen to or a book I'm working on and generally avoid being social while being in public at...
Read moreWhat's not to like! Situated in a beautiful setting at the confluence of the Eau Claire and Chippewa Rivers, downtown proximity means easy access from everywhere. Beautiful views of the rivers from numerous benches and natural rock seating areas. Music concerts along the river draw large crowds in the summer, offering fun, food and culture all in one! The park is a popular starting point for tubing down the river past Owen Park, the UW campus and Water Street, with the Hobbs boat landing as a convenient point to exit the river.
The Chippewa Valley Bike Trail passes through crossing the converted railroad bridge and on to Carson Park or to Water Street and points west along the Chippewa River. The bridge is the primary crossing over the river and also serves pedestrians accessing the trails along the river and to Carson Park. (The bridge is busy at peak times so bikes need to be prepared to stop for kids and oblivious adults, or even walk their bikes to the other side.)
The farmer's market is located on the Madison Street end of the park. It is open Saturday and Wednesday mornings in the summer. Fun place to just grab some coffee, a fresh muffin or pastry, and stroll about...
