Ninja-that place with the nice sign and you walk in and you're hit with a beautiful interior....and then it just goes downhill from there. We have been the a couple times now and have been very disappointed overall. The first time we went we had questions about something on the menu due to a food allergy and was assured by staff we were fine...and then the sushi came out...including the ingredient in question...boo....the young man waiting on us tried to get it fixed quickly while telling us their menu is out dated and we could hear the chef in the back telling our waiter basically too bad for us like it was our fault it came out wrong when we specifically asked. They did begrudgingly replace the roll but it was a rather embarrassing scene that should never had happened....So we tried them again today to come in to the same two staff members...totally different time of day...got another wrong order that I didnt bother correcting due to last times hassle...food just isn't good...everything in this 'classy' restaurant is served on broken chipped dishes...my husband had gunk on the inside of his cup that we had to have replaced. Service overall was nothing special...we ordered, we got food, we got a bill...The food is inconsistent and none of it is particularly good...one of the rolls we got had unidentifiable hard chunks of who knows what in the very last piece...and flavor...what flavor?...Overall there are other sushi places in the Eau Claire area that offer better all around...dont be fooled by the cheap prices of ninja...just...
Read moreNinja is a quaint restaurant nestled in downtown EC that offers Asian fusion as well as sushi and traditional Japanese cuisine. Sugar-coat that with a full bar menu, including sake. A fellow patron enjoyed an extra dirty martini with Grey Goose Vodka. The nearly packed crowd is comprised mainly of hip youth indicative of a vintage yet blossoming collegiate community. Vibrant signage and oriental motifs enhance the ambiance as the patrons indulge in REAL sushi dishes. You have a choice of tables or booths, but could also belly up to either the sushi bar or wet bar. People have often heard of the mythos surrounding Christmas village displays. They say that when no one is looking, the villages are alive with people bustling about like in real-life communities. Gazing at the view outside, I wondered if I was actually in one of those village displays with specialty shops, bars, and a movie theater lit up and everything under the heavy accent of snow to usher in the week before the main event on Sunday. Personally, I think this restaurant caters to couples, young or old, or small groups no bigger than 6-8 people. I'm sure all ages are welcome, but be weary of the attention span of children and how long gazing into an aquarium will last. I would rate this a second or third date hotspot. In short, awesome atmosphere, awesome staff, and awesome food. If you need a local sushi fix, any time of year, Ninja...
Read moreWent here on January 1st, which I have been here multiple times before and it’s always been good. Called to see if there was any tables and the lady on the phone was SOO rude. Got here and there was a few tables but the server seemed stressed and took along time which is fine because it seemed like she was the only person there. I ordered a drink which took 25-30 minutes to get because “the other server” had to make it and wasn’t behind the bar so i didn’t get my drink until after my food was already there which i would’ve wanted to sip on it before. Soup was decent, salad was decent until i found 3 hairs in my salad. Food came every single thing we got was cold not just luke warm actually cold, we didn’t want to send it back since we waited so long & were super hungry, hibachi chicken was disgusting driest chicken i have ever had & no flavor ate one piece and that was it, tasted microwaved. The steak was good a lot of fatty pieces but it it was warm it would’ve been really good. The ramen noodles entree was decent but really cold, all of our vegetables were hard like they hadn’t been cooked & cold. The fried rice tasted like white rice & was also cold. Came looking for chinese food like i have always gotten there in the past & they discontinued all of their chinese entrees because of lack of staff which hopefully gets fixed because this used to be my favorite restaurant in eau claire. Paid over $70...
