Visiting Wildlife West Nature Park was an unforgettable experience that left a lasting impression. This non-profit animal rescue is a sanctuary where every creature is evidently cherished and well cared for. One of the standout features was the fully paved trail system, ensuring accessibility for all visitors, including those in wheelchairs.

Each exhibit not only showcased a diverse array of animals—from majestic elk and deer to elusive jaguars and foxes, as well as fascinating bird species like owls and eagles—but also shared the touching stories of how each animal came to reside at the sanctuary. It was heartwarming to see the dedication of the staff, who clearly love and prioritize the well-being of these animals.

My visit was enriched by the opportunity to learn about each species and their unique backgrounds. Every corner of the park exuded a sense of care and respect for wildlife, making it clear that Wildlife West Nature Park is more than just a visit—it's an educational and emotional experience. I left wanting to spend more time among these remarkable creatures and look forward to returning. This place truly...

This place is on about 122 acres of land it is adorable, it's like being out in the wilderness. Wildlife is partly cemented walkway and partly dirt, but the walk is very easy. These animals are taken care of by nothing but volunteers, everyone is a volunteer there. It's very peaceful, some of the chain link fences are double and tripled so it takes time to clear that out of your camera lens to get a good shot. These are all rescued animals from injury, but looking at some of them you wouldn't be able to tell. The bear was a bad boy, Koshari is his name, he's from Navajo Lake in Northern New Mexico he became an expert in raiding the coolers on houseboats his life was saved and his habitat was built by a generous contribution from a couple in Sandia Park. He came to live at Wildlife West in 2005 he weighs over 400 lb. I give this place a 10 plus, plus because it's not over packed with people it's quiet and it's...

We had a great time as a family here. It was better than we expected. The animals generally seemed excited to see guests. Some of them would come right up to the fence.

It was great seeing all the local animals and learning their story.

Our kids had a blast. There's also a kid play area that doesn't look like much but was a lot of fun with a fair amount to do once you get in there.

In contrast to ABQ Zoo... ABQ Zoo feels more commercial. More variety there.

Here, you get a much stronger nature vibe, it feels more personal. I felt like I could relax here and take it all in much easier than at the ABQ Zoo which is usually chaotic. Generally speaking, there are far fewer people here. We were one of maybe 8 families in the park when we visited late October on a Saturday morning.

I think we paid around $30 for two adults and two kids. Well worth it. We took our time seeing everything and probably spent around...
