Went to the Big El Paso fair on Saturday 15 April, held within the park. Would not recommend; if you can do something else with your time would advise you do! For this event the cost for parking was $5; it’s a “special event” according to the website/person taking cash. Then there is no re-entry so you’ll pay another fee to park. Then admission is $15–half if you purchased your ticket online. The ticket for rides were $20 if you purchased in advance. Tickets purchased at gate were $40. If you wanted to any play the carnival games those prices stated at $7. With all this spending you’ll expect the fair to be spectacular. However, it was just ok. There were not a lot of rides at this fair for everyone in attendance at the park. Thus VERY long lines for any adult rides you tried to get on. They had some food trucks out there and as someone else mentioned they were OVERPRICED. $20 for 1 smoked Turkey leg that’s about $8 in the grocery store! I understand pandemic had some folks lose out but most establishment had state funding. Forgot to mention they also had a re-entry fee if you took off your band.

Also, the worst part is my car ended up getting keyed/vandalized! And the park was of NO assistance. When I contacted the park the next day, Sunday, I was automatically transferred to the Golf Course. The individual stated he couldn’t help me since that’s not his area—he just deals with the Golf Course area. Contacted the park again on Monday, was sent to voicemail. Left 3 messages and still no call. Filed a report and waiting for them to assist the investigators.

So I made reservations for a car event at Ascarate Park they asked me to reserve the spots necessary to have it and paid $250 to be allowed to do this a week later before my event they called me back because the supervisor or director said they needed more money that it would cost more so I said how much do you want and they said they called me back so they did and told me I could not have this event because there would be to much traffic and that they needed $2000 dlrs up front if I were to do it... it’s not enough time to find another spot and now I would have to wait 2-3 weeks before I even got my money back when all were doing is having a show for the public and car and truck community who have beautiful rides they really are very un professional about how they do business and very rude and disrespectful I don’t recommend this park to nobody thanks for letting me know last minute and being quick to take my money all my life I’ve gone to this park and done local events with no issues get it together Ascarate Park politicians within the years the park has changed one they don’t have western play land and they want to ban stuff from really happening wha good is a park we can’t use because they either want more money or can’t even get their regulations or any procedures done right what’s really...

Took the family to the fair, left within an hr. The food trucks were overcharging people. There was a black food truck right in front as you walked in who ripped us off badly . 2 burritos & one drink with some nachos whom they didn't even ask what kind we wanted was a total of $57.00 + they had forgotten my husband's burrito and than it became $70.00. There was a kid taking the orders , that was the laziest teen and the most unfocused person I have seen in my life, yet the parents put him on the window to take the orders . The fair did not have any decent sitting accommodations for anybody , they had the bleachers, but didn't realize that the elderly like me could not sit comfortably on any of them. The portable bathrooms were stinky to the max. The handicapped bathrooms were all being occupied by non handicapped. If you were handicapped, like me you would have to wait a very long time for one to be available. It was very expensive for 3 people it was over $100.00. Very bad management & organization. Won't ever...

We barely started coming over to practice fishing. We have only caught bass and i heard there's catfish as well but not 100% sure. For the most park its ok, its calm, its nice, lots of families, couples, people walking their dogs on leashes, people running, etc. Prices to go in are completely fair, 5, 10 dlls on the weekends. The park benches are relatively clean... lots of green, there is trash around unfortunately because people dont always respect and pick up after themselves... but not too much honestly. Now. the only BAD thing is the bathrooms...... just dont. Female bathrooms all clogged, not flushed, impossible to use them; and my husband said someone went no. 2 in the urinals in the males restroom....... there are multiple restroom kiosks around, so hopefully some other ones are better. We like it; juwy won't be drinking too much water so that i dont have to use the restrooms.

One of the best parks in El Paso! So much to do. The park has baseball/softball fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, handball courts, walking/biking paths, golf course with driving range, swimming pool, picnic areas, playgrounds, and a big beautiful lake! You can fish all year round as long as you have your fishing license. You can also take a kayak, paddle boat, canoe, row boat, or a boat with electric motor onto the lake at no cost! The lake itself is clear and pretty clean. The lake has trout, largemouth bass, black bass, cat fish, and sunfish species. Many types of birds frequent the lake. Ascarate park is a beautiful place to take your family, friends, loved ones, or yourself for a drive or spend the whole day. It's free to enter during the week and $2 on weekends.
