The Arroyo is a gem between Rim Rd., Robinson St. And the Franklin Mountains. The rains of 2021 have transformed this desert dry landscape into a green oasis. Tall desert plants dot the lower area next to the Tennis Club. Mountain bikes zoom through the trails while hikers cross through with their dogs. Just remember to pick up after your pet.

We weren't actually in the arroyo, we were walking alongside it doing the Scenic Sundays scenic drive walk as we do every week. It's just a fantastic way to spend a Sunday morning chatting with neighbors and getting some exercise with my dogs.

Nestled in the mountains is a hidden gem. A Tennis and swimming club! I've lived here all my life and never knew about this place. If you are looking for a place with great courts and a pool stop by. The restaurant inside is awesome as well.

I last mountain biked here in 2005 but recently road biked along the rim. The surrounding neighborhoods are quiet and peaceful and the walking paths on the rim are a great addition. El Pasoans are lucky to have such a great nature oasis like this.

If you're visiting El Paso's Central or Westside areas, including UTEP, walking the perimeter or the dry creek bed (arroyo) is a great excursion.

If you're the hiking type then it's not too much of a climb to go from the downtown area to the Scenic Drive point for some great views, at...

Great place for beginner mountain bikers to get used to trail riding. The way up has enough incline to train your conditioning for mountain elevation. The way down is very rocky to train in skilled maneuvering at high speeds. If you're in decent shape, the entire trail shouldn't take more than half an hour to complete. I stop a few times on my way up to catch my breath and I still complete the trail...
