Busse Forest Main (South) Dam — Attraction in Elk Grove Township

This is my HAPPY PLACE! I bike, kayak hang out on Sundays grilling with my husband and have celebrated many Father’s Days there. Sadly, the nature is governed and controlled by those who run the preserves. Our first tree and picnic spot they let become overrun by weeds right off the entrance at the Main Dam off Arlington Hgts Road, saying “ it’s bad for the environment to run the mowers”. Our second tree was CANCELED because they deemed the species as unhealthy for the environment to prosper and to my devastation.. chopped it down!! I was in tears! So many memories and such a beautiful serene spot with nice shade if you need it because my husband burns … OUR...

This place is pretty good for fishing but it's highly pressured, like extremely highly pressured. On bright days during weekends, there's at least a dozen people or more fishing this small spot. Barely any bites, but it holds some good fish. Good place to set up your rods and chill. Definitely...

I'm at odds with them amount of glass and garbage left at this place, there are trash cans all over and nobody can make it in the trash...
