Great park with nice playground equipment and a sprayground for the kids. There are playground structures for older children as well as the young, plenty of open field space for sports and activities, excercise equipment all along about a .75 mile looped walking path, a great dog park, picnic and restroom facilities, baseball diamonds, two areas with skate and bike features, bocce ball courts, horseshoe pits, etc.
There are a few drawbacks, mainly related to how crowded the park has become from exposure over the years. It got really busy during the drought induced sprayground cutbacks throughout the city. That left this and one other sprayground open at the time, causing more crowds that remained. Another being the CSD food truck events, which is nice (and convenient living close-by), but it draws people from far and wide. Unfortunately, not being fully vested in the area, not everyone shares that same sense of community pride, as those of us living nearby. People leave trash everywhere and dump hot, burned charcoal and ash in tree wells, on the lawn, next to trash cans, etc. It also isn't uncommon to find large boxes laying around after weekend birthday parties and events. Think full-size BBQ boxes, the box from that new Radio Flyer wagon, new stroller, new walk-in doll house, etc. It's disgusting and sad, especially considering there are cans easily accessible throughout the park. One day I watched as a man's dog knocked over a full 55 gallon trash can. He looked at the trash he had strewn everywhere, looked at me, and turned away as if nothing happened. This community pride seems pretty SOP there anymore. I picked it all up, snidely telling him not to fret, that I had it covered for him. It's really not hard to clean up after yourself, and it would be great if all the visitors did it. Anyway, fortunately CSD takes great care of the park, even when others don't. I still give it 4 stars and enjoy spending time there for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWith plenty of space, play areas suitable for both toddlers and older children, sports areas for basketball, baseball, football or soccer, skateboarding, and jogging this park has it all. It also has a water play area in warmer weather, covered and uncovered picnic tables, some of which can be reserved with the local parks pepartment from the looks of it. There are 2 enclosed sections designated as off leash dog parks with high fences and a wonderfully designed airlock entrance, and the park has several scoop stations stocked with bags for use by dog owners. Last but certainly not least are a couple exercise stations for those that want to take a break from jogging and get some chin-up or curls in. There is a good amount of parking along the perimeter, bike racks for those a bit more green friendly, and full restroom facilities with drinking fountains. If you're looking for a place to take the kids for the afternoon you can't...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is an excellent park! Splash zone for the kids in the summer, soccer fields, shaded areas, parking lot, basketball court, restrooms, even a small rock climbing section in the jungle gym area. This is a great place to pitch a tent and just chill on a summer day while the kids run around, of even just a small picnic blanket and a good book to read. All the amenities mentioned above are in close proximity to each other, so no long distance treks back and forth! The park itself is pretty massive, from where I usually go (water park) I can see a dog park and baseball diamond in the distance. The splash park is my favorite feature. The kids will play for hours! A nice alternative to paying for other local pools and waterparks. It even has extended hours in the summer. I'm here at 7pm (July 17th) right now and it's still going. The kids love it, I love it. I...
